Duda is from Krakow, age 48. Son of University Professors. Qualified lawyer never practised, been in politics around 15 years. Catholic, conservative.
Trzaskowski is from Wwa also 48 surprisingly. Worked a lot around the European parliament was an MEP and an MP. (As was Duda). Mayor of Warsaw. Liberal.
Results announced, 51% to 49% about half a million votes the gap. Trzawskowski cleaned up in the Western part of the country but Duda won the east. Frequency was up in the second round but mainly in the over 60’s group where Duda has a majority. Sin e.
Would duda be an anti immigrant anti science fan of trump type?
Not really. He is a career PIS politician who would hold the usual socially conservative, Catholic Church influenced views. PIS are Eurosceptics but are happy to take the EU’s money. He veered more to the right during this campaign with statements such as that the LGBT idelogy was more dangerous than Bolshevism. He was kind of viewed as an alright sort when first elected but over the last five years has been just a rubber stamp for the Government.

Not when they want to reform the judicial system in a way that it becomes politicised at senior levels.

The role of “president” varies from Putin who is effectively a dictator to a trough snouting figurehead like miggledy who contents themselves with bad poetry and gross hypocrisy, toeing the line whilst squealing a bit, and making money.
