Ask Polacks About Balbecs

Sounds very like the UK in many ways, bar the economy going well bit.

Am I right in thinking that you explained once that most of the public don’t really agree with the conservatives about taking over the courts and opposing the EU but they’ve just increased welfare to such ridiculous levels that the public will put up with anything?

There is an element of that. PIS have been increasing social welfare entitlements over the years and have built themselves a very strong rural support base as a result.

What are the chances of a Polexit, in percentage terms?

25%. But people didn’t think Brexit would happen either.

Tis pissing rain in west Limerick now

Great weather here 18-20 degrees for the long weekend.

Would they believe in pookahs and fairies and the like in Poland @balbec ?

Not really. But November 1st is the biggest holiday of the year. Everyone goes back to the homeplace to visit the graves.

I saw this at the top castle in Arpino

Close to Monte Cassino I think?

No it’s Torre Di Cicerone above Arpino. It’s near cassino though.

That’s some convoluted sermon from JPII

Thought it might be. Is it to commemorate war deaths?

It’s some rambling story about Galway hurling. It mentions Nogra, bogs and Keady (all the Polish spelling) @balbec will translate it for you.

It goes on about Abraham giving up his son. I assume it’s at a war cemetery?

But he didn’t, did he? He slaughtered a poor oul sheep instead. Been better for all those sons to have been replaced by sheep.

No just on the side of the old tower. No cemetery.
