Association Football Friendly: Republic of Ireland v England - June 7 2015 - Aviva Stadium, Dublin

Just been announced by the FAI. What an occasion this promises to be.

Let the build up begin.

What about the poor, isolated, rural dwelling football man who doesn’t have Sky Sports? He won’t be able to see this match.

Have the travellers stolen his dish?

Its ok mate, every GAA Club in the country will have SKY by then*

There are no volunteers in soccer and the players all get paid, so the poor isolated oul fella can go fuck himself.

Vol. Anthony Stokes?

There are loads of volunteers like Jappa down in Wexford Albion.

Jappa minds the hut at Wexford’s premier English-Japanese diaspora association football club.

Jappa’s eye for a player is legendary.

The day of this match is a Sunday, and the first Sunday in June is usually when Dublin begin their Leinster Football Championship campaign. You would thus hope that the potential for high jinks will be there. However it’s not the Bank Holiday Sunday which is the previous week. That would have been ideal as spectators would have been at the necessary levels of drunkenness needed to make such a match worthwhile.

I’m disappointed that February 15th has been overlooked, which I feel would have been the ideal date.

Another disappointment is that England’s Liverpool players will miss the match, due to playing in the Champions League final the night before.
