I was at that, in the far end,
The Ireland team that day was very weak on paper, England had a strong selection of players all from the First division, I remember Le Tisier played, Adams as well, canât remember much of the details though
Couple of talking items out of these teams on that day in Cork.
- Beglin must have been seething to be in the B team. Though he was coming back from injury.
- Mike Milligan was Irish??
- Never heard of Ken de Mange
- That was some England team. Fair enough some of them were young but most of them went on to do well at club and country level. The commentary said Paul Williams was from Charlton, donât know him. Snodin played for QPR, who is Paul Lake? The rest of the England players if you donât know them youâve no right to post on here.
Ireland B: Gary Kelly, Denis Irwin (Terry Phelan), Jim Beglin, Derek Brazil, Pat Scully, Alan McLoughlin (Kenneth de Mange), Brian Mooney, Mike Milligan (Gary Waddock), Niall Quinn, David Kelly (Owen Coyle), Mark Kelly
England B: Dave Beasant (David Seaman), Lee Dixon (Ian Snodin), Nigel Winterburn, Carlton Palmer, Andy Linighan, Tony Adams, Matthew Le Tissier (Tony Daley), David Batty, Paul Williams (Nigel Clough), Dalian Atkinson, Andy Sinton, Paul Lake.
A hell of a night before in Sir Henryâs ??
Beglin was effectively finished after a bad injury for Liverpool. Made a few appearances for Leeds around that time in the second division.
Ken De Mange was a key player in Noel Kingâs Limerick side of the early 90s.
Paul Lake was very highly rated at City but was ruined by injury.
Think Ken de mange was meant to be league of Irelandâs answer to jan molby âŠbig lad in the middle who could play
Locke you must only be a chap. De Mange came from Home Farm, couple of seasons at Leeds but mostly LoI after that. Iâd say Snodin never played for QPR, came from Doncaster with the his brother Glynn, also a couple of seasons with Leeds but best part of his career after with Everyone. Lake a much talked up player in his youth at City, injury fucked him though.
Iâm only a gasĂșn sure
Youâre dead right about Snodin, he was most famously an Everton player. It was Andy Sinton I was thinking of, who also played in that game, I was thinking of. He did play with QPR.
Paul Lake was a fella who came through the Man City youth system. Was a super player. Destroyed by injury
Ah, the great white hope of Man City. Awful story sadly.
This would give you a horn
That a jersey or a training kit?
Jaysus
Pool or Roma??
From green to orange. All Irelandâs club.
Rotten
I hope not.
The orange trim is a lovely nod to the club founder.
