Astana vs Celtic and vice versa

This will weaken us hugely going forward. Even if Johansen comes on and does well, their full backs will be far more relaxed now against Armstrong and Forrest.

Surprised Kayal isn’t playing. None of Celtic’s midfielders look like they want to give an option when the ball is coming out of defence

He’s been playing with Brighton for the last year or two, mate.

Sorry Biton I mean

Twisted his ankle against Barca on Saturday.

What do Armstrong and McGregor do?

Could do with a little spell of possession now. Bit jittery since Roberts went off.

Armstrong studies law. Think McGregor is a full-time footballer.

Good chance that for Armstrong.

Tierney is class

PENALTy

That’s some penalty

GGGGRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHSSSSSSSsssssssssssssss

Terrific penalty.

Decent half. Not much better than decent but we were very much on top throughout.

Bit worried about the second quarter of the game. I can only recall Johansen touching the ball once. We’re struggling to get it passed through midfield. Brown is playing really deep - to instruction you’d imagine and no harm in that security - and McGregor has taken on a bit more ball in good areas as it’s gone on but Johansen, Armstrong and Forrest is not a very potent supporting trio.

I think Janko and Tierney have done well. Janko can be a bit headless as @Bandage pointed out but he’s shown good strength throughout and he’s been more disciplined defensively positionally than I recall him being previously.

They’re not good at the back at all. They were obviously panicked by Roberts and will be a bit more comfortable as a result but the penalty was a result of two ridiculous decisions - stupid header back into the box and then just a reckless swing from the full back. Beyond that, they’ve panicked on a few long balls and I think they look nervy generally.

George Hamilton would be reminding us that the goal doesn’t change much of course. They needed to score and they’ll certainly push on as the time runs out. They were good going forward in Astana and I expect they’ll cause us some problems when they come out of their shells a bit. That said, they’re ripe for picking off if they do over commit.

Need to avoid silly free kicks around our box, they have a big dead ball threat. Johansen and Brown both have a habit of silly fouls and we need to avoid that.

We’re very much in control so far though, we look more organised defending against breakaways than we did under Deila and Griffiths looks the most likely to score out of anyone on the pitch.

Another good chance. Good work from Johansen and Brown there.

Nice football there - good balls from Forrest and Brown.

Griffiths should have taken one of these two early second half chances.
