Was Griggs close to winning it? Mad that he won it twice when he was younger and then goes to 2nd and now 3rd as he reaches the age

Not really, he was in front group of 3 but Dutch guy broke away with maybe km to go and then died last 200m. Some run from McCormack here a week after Valencia.

20 seconds off a medal with a lap to go

Irish men with a cracking chance of a medal here. Yer man with the hat blew up fairly quickly

Cormac Dalton with a proper medal chance too

Was Fintan there?

He’s running under the :uk: flag, his head was turned by his father’s big talk

It’ll be a glorious 4th place. Our specialist position in Athletics

Think they outperformed expectations & the women (other than McCormack obviously) were a bit disappointing. Brilliant run by Dalton, backing up the nationals victory in Gowran recently.

The lad who beat him last year won the u23s. The two who beat him today weren’t in it last year and are very classy according to the commentators I heard.
Club athlete from here 8th in Europe in women’s u23 outperforming all expections.
Fionnuala McCormack is a class act, a week after qualifying for the Olympics after running a 2.26 marathon.

The persistent 4th places would wear you out.
The lad in the cap is from Ennis. He came 2nd in Gowran and was possibly the weak link that let us down

They brought the top 6 from Gowran so had plenty of depth beyond him. Top 3 scored so unless the lad who finished 7th in Gowran was a superstar then it wasn’t down to just 1 single performance.

Norwegians scored mid 30s too to finish 3rd which would often be enough for silver.

I think McElhinney would have been expected to make it but was only 9th in Gowran but hard to argue with selection process.

What kind of training regime are you talking here?

Altitude training brings about serious improvement

The Kenyan diet plays a huge part too…

EPO, The sooner these Keynan shysters are caught and fucked out the better for the sport, for context, the 2nd placed woman also broke sub 30, never having ran sub 15 for 5k. Look at at thew chancer Kiptum, the eyes popping out of his head, he doesn’t even try to hide it
