Its asthma related. Id like a retriever. My sisters dog is deadly. We’d be sending it back to wherever we got it within 2 weeks if we did go for one unfortunately.

Have you a pitbull yourself i take it?

Think very carefully pal. We have our fella a few months now and iv been up walking him all bar 4 mornings since. He’s a grand fella but you’d want to be fairly sure your kids will be ready for the sacrifices that go with having one…mine absolutely were not which was v obvious to me but not to all of the other adults involved in making the decision to get one

Have Cooper here for 12 months since yesterday. He’s been absolutely great with our lads and has been nothing but good so far. He needs a fair amount of exercise but that’s what I wanted in a dog. Take him on the odd run now he’s older . 8k-10k at a handy pace doesn’t knock a stir out of him .

Wicklow animal welfare where we got one of our two. Happiest dog I’ve ever had.

Edit: here’s a lovely looking dog they’ve up today

He’s class.

Apparently it’s easier adopt a child than get a dog from some of those shelters.

Nah these guys were decent. Wanted make sure you’d proper space for sized dog primarily. If you were taking an old dog, I’d say they wouldn’t mind whatever dwelling. Young pup, they wanted make sure you’d some bit of space and were active enough. Not unreasonable.

Dog all his shots and was neutered when we got him from them so they just recovered that as a cost and ask if we’d make a donation outright or monthly (a tenner) to help upkeep, cover medicine costs for volunteer vets.

Was gas, pure country woman running it. No fucking about. Had a length of rope around him as a leash when got him. She put a knot in it about quarter way down before we put him in the car. She closed the door then with much of the leash and importantly the knot on the outside of the door. Practical as fuck no nonsense way to restrain him and ensure he didn’t move around in the car.

Would.imagine her practicality at play when considering those looking to adopt.

These organisations do good work and have bills to pay too. It seems you wouldn’t get a pup of any stripe for under a grand these days, and any of the designer breeds probably start at 2k.

The dogs are all chipped and have all their shots when they give them to you. Neutered too usually unless they are very young.

@Julio_Geordio wants a free dog to go along with his free house.

I’d much rather pay the likes of them than a couple of grand to a breeder.

The boss in our house just back from the vets. Very under the weather as he had to be sedated. Not serious thankfully, nothing rest and TLC won’t cure we are told. Try telling a 50Kg bundle of muscle and energy though :face_with_peeking_eye:

Vets are brilliant. You take an animal to them and they figure out whats wrong. Jeez you go to the doctor and they relieve you of €60/70 and you have to tell them what’s the matter.
