Flow by the Hungarian/American psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Details how contentment can be derived from intense focus over passive relaxation. I would concur.
Spoon Fed by the epidemiologist Tim Spector. Details myths around nutrition.
Living Better by Alastair Campbell. Always feel conflicted by Campbell but he writes well on his own mental health.
Fair Game by Steven Cannane. A history of scientology in Australia.
Not so enamoured with:
We Are Bellingcat by Eliot Higgins. Was really looking forward to this but thought their podcast series was much more interesting.
Milkman by Anna Burns. Think that has more to do with the medium than the quality of the writing
I just finished listening to ‘The Gulag Archipelago’ by Solzhenitsyn…read by his son (unfunnily enough). I don’t think I’ll ever be the same after it.
Afterwards theres a recording of a conversation between Jordan Peterson and Solzhenitsyn jnr. It’s devastating.
Roddy Collins book is v good on audible. Read by the man himself
Listened to a book, a sequel of sorts to Pure Mule, about return of Scobie Donoghue to Ireland after ten years in oz. Decent story but let down by the narration which was v annoying IMO. Called Going Back
Also dipping in and out of the Obama autobiography. He reads it himself, very well. Enjoyable and well paced so far.
Not sure how long it’s been available, but there looks to be a very good selection of audiobooks, with 15 hours per month listening time, included with all premium subscriptions.
