Augie March

Augie March are a band from Melbourne. They have just released their third album. They are the best band I have discovered since Radiohead. They are quite brilliant.

Their website is www.augiemarch.com.au

Please have a look, at the very least at the video for “One Crowded Hour”, which is now one of my favourite songs of all time.

Has anyone in Ireland heard of this band or have they been played on the radio at home?

Interested to hear what you lot think of this band. I highly, highly recommend them.

Never 'eard of 'em.

I expect they’re an Aussie version of Hootie and the Blowfish.

a million miles away from Radiohead. pretty poor, just a step up from One Republic.

a poor mans version of The Script…I suppose there really is no accounting for taste…

Far, far, far from it SS. You of all people would appreciate them. They are a gem uncovered.

Seriously, have a good look at the website and the video of “One Crowded Hour” (the lyrics should be on the site as well).

Anyone who has read Flann O’Brien will appreciate this band.

The single from the new album (Pennywhistle from Watch Me Disappear) is excellent.

I’ll be very disappointed in you SS if you do not pay sufficient attention to this band.

You were going so well Puke, you stocks were rising with me big time, and then you post something like that…

An Fear…?

After a quick investigation it seems Fitzy may not be alone, I have just read some decent reviews for ‘Strange Bird’. Could it be that Fitzy has brought something positively seismic to the attention of this board?

Strange Bird was the firsy album, I haven’t heard it.
Second album released in 2006 was Moo you Bloody Choir - the best album I’ve heard in years. Quite brilliant.

Third album - Watch Me Disappear - was released this month - Mrs Fitzy bought it for me for an anniversary present (its my 7th wedding anniversary on Monday, thank guys) - its very good, I’m a bit disappointed with parts of it and its nowhere near as good as Moo You Bloody Choir.

I don’t know what things are like on Irish radio at the moment, but this is a band I would imagine Tom Dunne or Donal Dineen would be very confortable playing.

thats funny…i was thinking the same about you my antipodean friend…

Come now my friend (not literally or anything like), I think we have reached an understanding in recent weeks. Detante is the word and mutually assured destruction the policy. Lets face it Puke, we need each other. Don’t let the bastards get you down, I’m with you every step of the way.

This very randomly just came up on a playlist while I was having a pint with herself’s Aussie bro-in-law. Grand choon

Blast from the past. One Crowded Hour is a good tune. I had a few of their albums but they got sold in the great CD cull.
