I take your point Kev about the undertones of racism with Daw and NicNat, and it may be true, but I’m excited by the pair of them not because of their heritage, background and certainly not their colour, but more their athleticism and sheer power and pace that they have. Maybe its genetics or whatever, but they are superb athletes. I’d see Buddy in much the same way, unbelievable strength and power (and yes I know he is of Aboriginal decent too) and they do go on about him as well. I’m not sure there are any real caucasian players who are as exciting to watch in the way NicNat and Daw are in the way they play. I’m struggling to think of any player who can ruck as well as these, score at full forward and have serious pace and power to run with the ball as well. You have quality ruckmen like Cox, Lieunberger, Kreuzer, Jolly etc, but none have pace like Daw and Naitanui. Obviously there are quality players in other areas who are skillful and exciting, but these lads play differently and its great to watch. The buzz in the crowd when they faced off for the ball up was great.
Ya, I agree with you. It’s exactly what I’m saying. They are exciting because of their talents, their colour should be irrelevant but it has been made an issue. They continually talk about “culture” yet they don’t understand anything about it or even discuss it. That’s not exclusively an Aussie thing, we do it ourselves as well.
For what it’s worth I think Buddy is somewhat over rated.

I think Buddy has seriously diminished as a player over the past 2 years in particular, but he has super ability. If he could get back to the form he was in when he kicked 100 goals, Hawthorn would be out of sight.

Ya, serious potential. But he may have been getting some help in the past. Astrex beside that 100 I’d say, maybe I’m wrong (kinda hope I am, but doubt it) He just fades out of games and has gone missing from time to time.
maybe so, as I said before I had always thought any drug taking he was involved in, was of the non performance enhancing kind (report this week that 28 players caught taking recreational drugs, cocaine being the most prevalent.)
That too. Some cover up on that though, they don’t release the names which is a cop out. He has all the signs of someone who was on something, but isn’t anymore.
