Aussie Rules 2013

its not big news mate, another Queenslander that has no interest in AFL- there are millions of us

Ya, best keep it simple with meat head sports like Rugby League.

Ah no? Mate?

When in Rome mate, when in Rome

Tommy Walsh named as astarter for Sydeny against Freo this week. Clarke and Mooney not included by Collingwood, but after both being injured, thats not surprising.

Eagles have Kerr, Selwood, Masten and Waters coming in. Some additions to bring back in. Nicoski should be playing WAFL this week too, so very close to having a full strength squad again to work from.

Where do you watch Aussie Rules on Ireland? Since TG4 stopped showing highlights, I have fallen out of touch with it big time

ESPN. there is a live online subscription too, but the quality of it went to shit half way through the year and they havent fixed it this year so didnt bother with it. they show highlights on Europsort 2 on a Tuesday night if you dont have ESPN.

Good news on Walsh, the irish are going very well over here in fairness.

We’ll be stacke this weekend due to Eagles selection, not sure how I feel about their system, but Ash Smith will destroy Subiaco the way they are going.

Are Freo in Sydney Gman?

yeah, its in SCG.

I hope to fuck Tommy scores a few goals. Freo have won their last 3 games, but they could feel some retribution tomorrow night from a Swans team smarting over their loss to Hawthorn last week. Apparently Longmire was furious with them and there’s been some soul searching at the Swans this week. Mumford is back for the Swans so that will help.

Mooney’s an emergency squad member for Collingwood this week. Bit rough getting dropped after scoring a goal when he came on. Setanta is out again this week for GWS as they face a slightly difficult fixture against Hawthorn. Not sure whats going on there with Setanta as I don’t think he’s injured.

Your boys should start motoring now GMan with some important players coming back.

Next three weeks for the Swans - Collingwood, Essendon, Adelaide. Hard going that lot. Then the bye. Then its Tippett time!

GMAN - are you watching this? Nic Nats back!

fucking hell what a finish! just finished watching it now. with 6 mins left I was pissed off thinking we wouldnt win, and was going onto the AFL site to see the score, but it was slow loading so said nah, sure keep watching it! glad I did!

in all honesty, we should have been out of sight. It took a lucky free kick, and an amazing mark to win it, when we missed an easy 10 goals. some finish though. would have been an awful loss had we not won. just seeing the free that was paid, very soft. Some mark by NicNat though!

Thought it was a pretty high quality game, much better than alot of the poor quality, but exciting, games they have been blowing on about.

NM are a very skilled young team and have serious potential, but they Di some very silly things. That last kick out was idiotic. The “high” rules is just farcical and is ruining the game. The tackle definition in AFL is now far far worse than in Gaelic, hardly thought that possible, on a number if fronts. There was a serious Ho ha all week about James Kelly taking out Goddard, which for me was a lethal dangerous off the ball tackle. Yet they give Adam Goodes a hard time about him going for kick on’s soccer style when others slide in. I think it might be a race thing, but even if not, their views in the macho stuff and what’s really dangerous are completely arse ways.

Good night for Eagles though. I don’t quite agree try should have won easily , NM handed them a fair bit but also good pressure stopped a few goals. But they showed more fight and better bottle. They had a better structure as well. Could be a season changer. Never a free in though. It’s frightening to think Nic Nat isn’t really fit.

It’s funny about the AFL, they almost reveal themselves as having an under current of slight racism, or at least a looking at colour thing. They are mad promoting the fact that 2 of the most exciting players in the league are from different cultures. Yet the fact is there are 6 Irish players in the league, a different culture, 4 yanks in the league, a different culture, and god knows how many Indigenious players. I know they are trying, and they are not really being deliberately racist. But it’s obvious (and I’m talking generally here) they see a colour.

Anyway, hopefully last night was a step in the right direction. Bar Geelong who are great to watch and push the skills of the game, the skill execution has been of a very low level for such a highly paid sport. WAFL ( albeit a slower game obviously) is far easier on the eye and many of the players are more skillful and have a bit more invention, something sadly lacking in Aussie Rules in general. It’s over coached and there is no room here at any decent level for a Brian McGuigan, Trevor Giles, Ciaran McDonald type players.

eh, Irish australioans have played AFL for years

these lads are from new immigrant backgrounds that have been attracted to the game it should be celebrated.

get back to me when the GGA start having central europeans and subsaharan africans playing

Yes it should be celebrated, my point is its being celebrated cos the lad is black. They talk about culture and embracing it. But what culture? They haven’t a clue, has anyone ever actually investigated this “culture” he is from. Why don’t they educate people a bit on Sudan? That’s what helps dilute racism, understanding. As well as that my point is there are other cultures with bigger numbers than the Sudanise playing AFL and they are ignored, probably because they “look like” Australians.

Africans are playing hurling and football all iver Ireland you twaat. A cursory glance at club website photo gallery’s in Dublin or Cork would tell you that. Many kids playing in Cork particularly in the Northside. There are Polish lads playing Senior football in Cork as well.

You haven’t a notion what you are talking about.

The silence is deafening.

mmm, just looked at the surnames for last year all Ireland squads, not one african or central European in it

also I note that only this week the GGA has once again proved to be a cold house for Non catholics

So you expect an immigrant population with children in the 6-15 age bracket to be playing in all Ireland finals. Interesting. The African and Eastern euro lads are talented and athletic, but they ain’t that good.

You’re floundering again.

sigh, protestants are being chased out of the sport- its that opposed to integration

1/8th of all people between the ages of 16/24 are of non Irish background

of this 1/8th not 1 play senior gga

this isnt true in other sports though
