It’s true the ABC has pretty decent standards. But Fox is sky and sky is fox, so anything in that arena stinks to the high heavens.
Of course we should be reminded that ABC is heavily linked to the BBC, so I wouldn’t be getting too carried away. SBS is really the only trustworthy channel out there.
I take this back, I have noticed an undercurrent of racism in ABC in recent times, and some of their affiliates.
I said sorry Gman. You were better off know they threw that game away before watching it anyway, it would have been torture.
No comment on the booing of Jobe Watson? The most ridiculous booing ever. There is alot of disappointment and outrage at the booing saying its not in the spirit of it etc, but I don’t get the sheer stupidity of it. He is the only one to actually show any balls or honesty and the vast majority of the players are known to have taken what he has and signed waivers also. Why not just boo the whole Essesdon team? By the same token the abuse been thrown at the Eagles supporters about hypocrisy because of them applauding Ben Cousins is slightly off as well. He didn’t, that we know of, take PED’s. he was a drug addict and alcoholic who defied logic to play a high level of sport. An idiot no doubt, but their cheering of him when it seemed at the time he had turne his life around was fair enough. 2 totally different scenarios.
It’s an absolute embarrasent for the AFL these guys are continuing to play this sport when they have admitted taking banned drugs. It’s more than bizarre they have not even commented on it. Some amazing head-in-the sand stuff from such a big organization.

Ah you’re grand, got a text from a Don’s supporter in Perth not long after you told me so I’d never have been able to avoid result!
As for the booing, I kinda agree with your point, but Watson is the current Brownlow and has admitted he took performance enhancement drugs. Yeah the whole team could have got it, but when your captain and player voted best in comp admits he cheated, then he is going to be targeted. I can fully understand why he was booed, not sure how I feel about it tho, kinda on the fence either way.
I do admire him tho for being upfront, and the whole back tracking from Don’s is crazy. After reimers said the very same thing when it first came out, he was castigated by everyone. Malthouse made a good point during week as to where is the AFL now? Why aren’t they getting involved quicker. American sports are very similar, they know it goes on and make token gestures to it.
Oh look, booing happens, who cares, a good sportsman will be motivated by it. Which he was.
The hypocrisy comes from everyone in the AFL, trying to protect the players even though they are cheats. But then complaining about the booing. They are telling people theyare stupid.

Yeah agree with all that. The way they said it was a disgrace to boo a champion like Watson, yet in my mind, his Brownlow is tainted and it’s hard to call him a champion when he has admitted he used illegal ped’s.
I do think it’s odd how much they are going on about the booing. People boo players in the most part who cheat, be it by hitting one of their own, or who dive etc, so I don’t see why this drug thing should be glossed over. Maybe it’s a good thing it happened
All-Indigenious team will represent Australia in Ireland this year, a fantastic idea. It will alleviate any issues of stupid hard man fighting and should provide a spectacular open fast moving game. I know some of the ex Indigenous players are delighted with this.
Absolutely, brilliant idea and will provide for some bloody exciting games. Coach is Mick O’Loughoin a Swans and Indigenous legend. Adam Goodes and Buddy Franklin will hopefully be part of it.

What an utterly ridiculous and dangerous idea.
Will you be calling for an all-white team in 2014, Kev?
Fuck off you moron. You know nothing about the indigenous people if that’s your take. They are the people who created all these teams (in NRL & AFL) came from the Aboriginal people themselves. They love to play together, they are very close to each other and have a bond I have never seen before. They are a culture within a culture and what’s most important is that they want this.
If I had disagreed with this you’d be in the other side of the fence. Playing the man not the ball again.
