Austin Gleeson is the greatest hurler of all time.
The best since Setanta
They call him Santy below in Waterford
Clare have no hurlers
Youâre right there joe
Yea you think
They might have Hurlers but they donât have men. Gleeson already has more personal awards than Kelly and will go on to win many more. Kelly will remain his inconsistent self while Gleeson becomes an all time great. There must be at least twenty Hurlers in the country better than Kelly.
Ooooft!! Jesus horse what brought that on.
I bet Kelly is better at traditional music .
+1
Some fella from Clare down the local Centra back home declared last week that kelly was the best hurler in the country. The whole place erupted, according to my old lad who witnessed it. They thought the Clare lad was rising them but he wasnât having any of it. This muldoon seemed to think that hurling has never seen a player like Tony. Was it you @Joe_Player?
For the record, all the knowledgeable hurling folk in the shop corrected this fella, pointing out that Austin Gleeson is the best hurler in the country, as voted for by his GPA peers
Me in tipp central
Not only is Austin Gleeson the greatest hurler of all time, but he is also one of the last great showmen.
I am not doubting Gleesons abilities here, but the pressure will be on next year. His performances this year have been outstanding, but Waterford are firmly back in the radar and deservedly so. The hurling world expects. A different type of pressure
Anything less than 2 of the next five all Irelands would be a failure for this crop and their management team
Would you agree then that both Waterford and by default Gleesons will have to cope with a difee rent type of pressure. Waterford 02 to 08 were gifted as well but still failed.
Yes pal, would agree. You feel that if they make the breakthrough finally, they could go on and win another few. I think the 02-08 players were arguably more talented but were ultimately thwarted by a good Cork side, a great Kilkenny team, a Richie Bennisâs ahem tactical masterclass, and in some cases, by the lack of their own cohesion. The playing field may have levelled out a bit now so thereâs a chance for them. Bar a disastrous Munster final in which the hurler of the year was anonymous and ultimately substituted, 2016 was a step up from 15 (albeit without a league title). If they can keep going in that direction, 2017 could be their year
Would find it hard to disagree with any of that. Truth be told they bet themselves in 07. Donât give a fuck what anyone says. They took Limerick with a grain of salt that day. I was at theach game. They went the bones of ten points down in the first half. It took them all they had to drag it back but time and fatigue caught up with them
