At this point of the US Open last year, Zverev had 43 double faults, that figure stands at 10 at the same stage in the Australian Open.

Very un Nadal like. He seemed to be larking around last few games making Nick suffer, when he could have had it killed off and out of nowhere Nick has broken back for 5-5.

Nadal always does things the hard way, he usually responds well but against someone who serves like Kyrgios you have to be ruthless.

It wasn’t even that he was doing it the hard way. It was more a case, I really don’t like this guy, I have him on his knees now and I’m going to make him suffer and give him a slow death. Two break points at 15-40. Nick is out on his feet.

Nick holds for 6-5. Whatever about his fitness and conditioning, he’s shown a resolve and character in this tournament that I’ve never seen from him before.
This is worrying. Nadal keeps letting him off the hook. 2/9 is not good enough from break points against Kyrgios. I know Kyrgios has a huge serve but he has to be finishing him when the opportunities present itself. His conversion of break points is way below his normal rate this tournament.
Jesus what have I done. I turned this off when Nadal was trying to murder Kyrgios instead of winning the match.
Its a tie break now. Nadal is still the overwhelming favourite, even if he has to go to a fifth set to do it. This is not very clever from Nadal though for further rounds. This match was over at the 2 hour 30 mark, they’re at the 3 hour 30 mark now. Nadal with the mini break, first point in the tie break.
Since his bad run in 15/16 Nadal has many occasions where he badly coped with the jitters, he tightens up and makes mistakes that he would not have done in his prime.
