I have had a relentless string of horses i’ve backed at good prices in recent weeks finish second. But tonight took the biscuit and has tipped me over the edge.
First off i registered two successful in running bets on the Dublin v Kerry game. First of all i felt a Dublin goal was coming so i backed Dublin next goal at Evens just before half time which copped soon after the resumption. I also before half time as the scores were level backed Dublin at 8/13 as felt they were playing much the better and had more threat of goals and Kerry are traditionally bad early in the league. This also copped. Then in the 55th minute with 29pts on the board i saw one bookie offering the totals line at 34.5, which i felt was very low. I had a substantial bet on overs at 5/6 as felt there were more scores to come, i might get there just on points alone (needed 6pts in 15+ mins) and with a bit of luck the Dubs might bang in another goal and hey presto.
What transpired over the next 15+ mins made me ill. There were one or two points scored within the first five minutes and now i needed 4pts as i now watched in horror as the Dubs started to wind down the clock, the bastards, by hand passing the ball across their half back line and midfield and keep possession for two minutes. They did this once or twice more between then and the end of the game. When they did attack they were creating overlaps and were getting goal chances, with a few mins left their centre back burst the line and one on one with the keeper he blasted a rasper which rattled the crossbar. In hindsight the point would have done me. The teams swapped scores some more and Kerry missed 2-3 chances which were kicked wide. With me needing now 2pts to get over the line Dublin had another chance which James McCarthy hit the post with when going for goal! Kerry missed a chance with 90 seconds of injury time left and then Dean Rock awarded the last chance of the game pointed to ensure the final tally ended on 34pts! One point short of the 35 i required to collect on my substantial bet. The gods were smiling on the lucky bookmaker this time who offered those odds as all the good work i had done earlier in the match in predicting two outcomes correctly was totally wiped out and then some.

The owls fucked me today on a €10 accumulator. 2-1 up until the 87th minute.

Dustin Johnson is fucking us over royally on the Golf betting thread. The cunt isn’t trying a leg and has just double bogeyed. Bad legs and all I would have played that last hole better than the stupid cunt.
I go easy on the horses these days, just don’t have the time to study them like I did so therefore my biggest bet would be a score most times.
Up to the 2nd week of last December I had a sequence of 16 losing bets on horses.
Now the vast, vast majority of them were favs and 2nd favs. A lot of them even money too.
I was just haunted by bad luck. Fallers at the last. Caught on the line, you name it.
I hadn’t any bet then until Dec 26th when a double came in for me ( which I posted here ).
I’ve made money every weekend since, not huge money but € 50 + , had a winner last Sunday @ 9/2 which shouldn’t really have won, that’s the way sports and betting run.
Hang in there @Smark, it’ll turn eventually.
It probably serves me right for betting on rugby league, but that’s the price to pay for sitting in of a Saturday night. You want your punts televised across several channels, running from 5pm to midnight. Anyway, over 36.5 tripped me up, in a game that saw (yeah, surely enough) 36 points scored, and the collector’s item of a missed Thurston conversion. Payout of $450 odd went with that missed kick.
To compound a wonderful weekend, I had an e/w double of Hend on the European Tour and Ooisthuizen on the PGA. After watching Hend romp to victory at 33/1, I barely raised an eyebrow as Oosthuizen finished 1 shot outside the place money and a bumper payout.
I’ll try not to back anyone’s tips at Cheltenham this week.
