Ballon D'Or Nominees

Messi ahead of Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldo for me. 4 superb players who were very effective in 2009 but Messi was the stand-out I think. The two Barca midfielders really controlled all their big games and deserve recognition for that. Ronaldo was the next best individual performer after Messi but wasn’t as ridiculously good.

I’m at a loss to understand why Dzeko is in there and Grafite isn’t. Something to do with nationality and then only playing a certain number of European games or something… anyone know?

Andrey Arshavin (Arsenal), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Diego (Juventus), Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Edin Dzeko (Wolfsburg), Samuel Eto’o (Internazionale), Cesc Fbregas (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Liverpool), Diego Forln (Atletico Madrid), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux), Thierry Henry (Barcelona), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona), Andrs Iniesta (Barcelona), Jlio Csar (Internazionale), Kak (Real Madrid), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Maicon (Internazionale), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Lus Fabiano (Seville), Franck Ribry (Bayern Munich), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea), Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United), David Villa (Valencia), Xavi (Barcelona), Yaya Tour (Barcelona).

Whos that fella that plays at Roma that they’re always going on about on here? Surely he was nominated?

Surely Messi has it in the bag, can’t imagine anyone else getting the nod ahead of him. I suppose Torres has a shout, and Xavi as well, but I’d be shocked if Messi didn’t get it.

the only roma player i could think of would be mirko vucinic a montenegran center fowarsd.
roma would not have any players at all really up to this level

pretty shocked not to see denis behan of hartlepool united and formerly cork city and itai shecter from hapoel tel aviv not on the list

Did someone just mention AS Roma in a thread about Ballon D’or nominees?

No, that is not the guy.

I was just curious about the guy they speak of a lot. Its most likely some sort of mistake by rocko or the organisers.

im not so sure
AS roma would be a very average seria a team who will probably be in seria B next year, this would be about league 1 or scottish premier league standard…

the ballon d’or is far removed from this bile

 No Twigg. The way NCC was talking about him I was sure he’d be a cert for a nomination at least

No sign of Barrack Obama on the list?

I’d agree with that order. Messi was magnificent and the other two weren’t far behind, while Ronaldo was smashing too. Good shouts on the likes of Gourcuff and Luis Fabiano but there’s the usual John Terry nomination. That lad is criminally over-rated.

Giggs has it won I think.

Ibrahimovic?

WTF?

Anyway - I would agree with the top 4 mentioned but in this order:

  1. Messi
  2. Iniesta
  3. Ronaldo
  4. Xavi

Ronaldo would have been number 2 before Iniesta’s masterclass in Rome.

Zlatan missed Barca’s game on Saturday night through injury and they drew a blank.

Coincidence? I think not.

agreed
Gourcuff is a fine footballer, bordeuax play some beautiful stuff
there is some fine football in ligue une
Benzema was a joy to watch with lyon last year
i actually fancy them against the mess that is liverpool tomorrrow nite
lyon are currently trading at about 4.75 on betfair which is way over priced IMO…

just had fulham -1 there againsst hull at 5-2…

I’d be inclined to back Lyon myself tomorrow night but I’d be expecting a better price than is currently available. They were 5.2 last night, not sure why they’re shorter now considering Gerrard is now expected to be fit. Probably need to take a closer look but that’s unlikely with my 5.55 flight tomorrow morning

:pint::pint::pint::pint::pint:

yes!!!

i hope u were fucking on this sledge,

got it at 5.1 on betfair last night

liverpool are SHITE
