St brigids day bank holiday has crept up on me.
Dublin will be on jointed anyway with the racing in leopardstown and the rugby on as well.
Pity the club finals couldnāt be on this weekend.

Looking forward to this new Bank Holiday Monday. As it is in honour of our matron saint Bridie whose day is actually today the 1st, itās passed time the government do the sensible thing and move Paddies Day to the nearest Monday to where the 17th falls. This year is ridiculous. Off Friday back to work Saturday.
It was an unbelievable decision by the Irish government to mark the start of the six nations and Dublin racing festival with a bank holiday.

Whatās the difference?
A bank holiday was a day banks used close. A public holiday is set by the state, everyone gets it, thereās ten of them a year.

Not at all. I think Good Friday for example is a Bank Holiday but thatās not one many would get off these days.
