The obvious modern comparison to Kristallnacht is Israel arming violent settlers and encouraging and enabling them to attack Palestinians.
The thought process of Trump supporters who also claim to oppose the genocide of Palestinians:
âIsrael supporters are brainwashed by a relentless, decades long campaign of lies and bullshit.â
Also:
âThereâs no propaganda campaign of lies and bullshit which brainwashes Trump supporters. Itâs all real.â

Itâs obvious to all but the most fanatical, blinkered headbangers that Israel runs a vast campaign of propaganda and influence in the world. This encompasses relentless pushing of Israeli talking points, relentless lies and disinformation and relentless vilification and harassment of anybody who opposes what Israel does. Lobbying, influence peddling, purchase of media by Israel aligned interests, cosying up to the worst leaders in the world.
This materially influences world coverage of the atrocities Israel commits. It ACHIEVES ITS AIM. It makes media coverage of Israel and default political reaction to what Israel does much more favourable. And it convinces large numbers of real people too. A majority of Americans are brainwashed by this propaganda campaign. Itâs really fucking frustrating as somebody who objects to genocide and war crimes and whatever to have to be faced with this suffocating vast propaganda campaign every fucking day and no end in sight, ever. Everywhere, the far right now supports Israel, even the full on Jew hating far right.
Do Trump supporters who are also Palestine sympathisers even understand Trump and right wing politics in general there do the exact same thing Israel does? A vast propaganda campaign which relentlessly pushes Trump/right wing talking points, relentlessly pushes lies and disinformation and relentlessly vilifies and harasses its enemies. This campaign too has brainwashed large numbers of real people - enough to win an election. And you are part of it.

Itâs a question. I think a lot of lot of lads either donât see the double standard or have no discomfort with the double standard.
Well the evangelicals are up front about their rapture fetish - they literally do want the world to burn and are up front about it - but I think thereâs a lot of people who arenât religious who have no interest in politics or society beyond nihilism. Theyâve just chosen to have no values and be terminally cynical about everything - which paradoxically makes them the most gullible people of all.
One thing that is undeniably true is this: the cohesiveness of a society depends upon the information it consumes.
Right wingers understand that the more you poison the information eco-system, the more you paralyse society and get it to reach the utterly cynical yet totally gullible state you need it to reach if you want to implement right wing insanity.
Berlinâs official city portal just wrote our film No Other Land has âantisemitic tendenciesâ. A film that won the Berlinale and was recently invited to a special screening in the German embassy in Israel. It pains me to see how, after murdering most of my family in the holocaust, you empty the word antisemitism of meaning to silence critics of Israelâs occupation in the West Bank (the topic of our film) and legitimize violence against Palestinians. I feel unsafe and unwelcome in Berlin of 2024 as a left-wing Israeli and will take legal action.
In 1 hour we have a screening of the film in front of 500 people at Berlinâs Academy of Arts - which is funded by the state. How can me and @basel_adra share our work in a city which incites violence against us? What is going on?

Just on this, Irish policy is to only recognise or refer genocide when there has been a finding of commission of genocide by a court or international tribunal or something like that. Itâs in recognition, I think, of genocide being âthe crime of crimesâ and of the power of the word. Anyway it may be the same reason that RTĂ and other media donât use the word in regular reporting and thatâd be fair enough. Many commentators describe the situation as ongoing genocide and I think theyâre right. Ethnic cleansing isnât a legal term but itâs clear thatâs going too. Completely agree with you that itâs been mass atrocity and war crime after war crime and should be reported on as such. RTĂ definitely have a history of both sidesing the situation. Israel has prevented reporting on whatâs going on by denying access or just killing reporters, so itâs hard for RTĂ I suppose but I think they could do better. My major issue with RTĂ is they regularly report things Israelâs spokespeople say - propaganda, lies - as if theyâre legitimate things to say, without interrogating or providing context. Their reporting on Israel outlawing UNRWA is a good example of this.
