Thereās an element of that no doubt. But I think itās good that heās done so.
I donāt think Bob is a stupid man. I think he likely saw reality a long time ago but was probably quite scared of speaking out because, you know, Israel has a vicious propaganda machine.
I feel a few things about this sort of thing.
It would have been much better had Geldof spoken out before now. Heās a person whose voice carries some weight given, you know, he organised Live Aid and that.
I think Geldof is one of a large cohort of western people who willingly deluded themselves that there was such a thing as liberal Zionism, that Israel was some sort of beacon of enlightenment, a refuge, an anti-colonial refuge at that. I think he still retains some of that delusion even now as he speaks out.
When in reality it was always a great big jackboot. You can sort of understand why the historical context in which it exists but that doesnāt mean it hasnāt operated on the principle of the jackboot for its entire existence. Jackboots are bad no matter who is exercising the weight of the big foot inside it.
This phenomenon of delusion is nothing new. A whole host of western intellectuals in the 1920s and 1930s deluded themselves that the Soviet Union was some sort of workersā paradise rather than the barboarous jackboot dictatorship it was. Some eventually came to their senses, some didnāt.
Well I suppose Israel is a sort of refuge, itās a refuge for quite a few paedophiles, itās a refuge for criminality, and itās a refuge for Jews which is entirely built on standing a great big jackboot on others just like the Nazis did to the Jews.
The Nova music festival was a great celebration of freedom, but at the same time it was a celebration of freedom for selected people, entirely built on a great big jackboot standing on the heads of others. It was a very bad thing that those people were murdered but you have to expect that sort of thing will be the reaction after 75 years of jackbootery.
Speaking of refuges, the lebensraum of Nazi Germany, while it lasted, was a sort of refuge for German speaking ubermensch who stood their great big jackboot on the heads of the poor natives. But thatās not the sort of refuge anybody should want.
I do feel it is an unfortunate thing about our world however that we have come to expect celebrities to be our moral compass as regards colonial and genocidal matters because all powerful western politicians are either spineless jellyfish or worse in their response. So in that regard I feel a tinge of sympathy towards Bob and maybe even towards Bono. I feel less sympathy when I consider how they made their careers based on being hugely outspoken about major world affairs, human rights, how bombing was wrong, all that stuff.
I feel a bit of sympathy for Bob following his comments, because heās getting it in the neck from all sides. There are a lot purity fetishists who seem angry that heās said something rather than glad. These purity fetishists seem to be a bit like these music knobs who get angry if other people latch onto a band because they want this band to be their property. They donāt seem interested in the broad public opinion swinging behind the innocent people of Palestine. They seem to want to be right while the people die. Many of these people also have deeply hypocritical views about other barbaric genocidal wars.
But I donāt know how many of these people are actually real and how many are AI bots.
Then you have the hasbar headcases who are screaming that Bob is an anti-Semite, which is a bit of a mad claim.

I think the mass starvation was the tipping point for Bob. And has been a tipping point for much of the west, thereās a shift in the media coverage and comments from leaders.
Itās a pity this was needed as a tipping point. That snipers targeting children didnāt do it or all the bombing of hospitals and schools or mass graves didnāt do it.
On nova, obviously the atrocity was terrible and unjustifiable. But letās face it, thereās something sick about holding a music festival - with a theme of āunity and loveā - adjacent to a giant open air prison full of a people youāve subjugated and walled off.

I donāt think the tipping point that matters has come, it never will.
The reality is that the people of Gaza and Palestine as a whole are destined for starvation, slaughter and erasure.
As well as the naked evil that is perpetrating this, the INTERNET is an essential tool in its perpetration.
Even the Times has Survey results from 2000 Britons tomorrow where the results are hugely anti-israel
Thatās still a depressing level of support for Israel.

Hamas are well funded from Iran
