Where was the tournament on? flannerys on Camden Street would be my guess.
Itâs mentioned in the article, you ignorant fuck.
Hereâs a clue. The venue is contained in the text.
Never heard anything of this. What did they call it, âthe world cup of dartsâ? Youâd imagine something like that coming to Ireland would be quite high profile. Anything of it on the news at all?
The Zuiderduin Masters starts tonight. This is the last big event before the World Championship and is traditionally seen as the big âmovingâ event before as players find their form ahead of the big one. Or so youâd think, but history tells us the winner here has a similar fate at Lakeside to the winner of the Augusta par 3 competition at the US Masters.
Iâm in no way comparing Zuiderduin to that though as itâs a fantastic tournament in its own right. 24 players are divided into 8 round robin groups of 3, with the winners advancing to the quarter finals. Itâs a format thatâs reminiscent of the 1982 World Cup in Spain, and Iâve no doubt the excitement levels this weekend will reach the heights of that magnificent game between Italy and Brazil. Socratesâs great goal in that match summed up the philosophy of Brazilian football, and this tournament sums up the philosophy of BDO darts. The joy I feel in my heart before a big tournament like this is similar to the joy Falcao felt when he equalised that day in Barcelona.
One look at the draw tells you that Group F is the âGroup of Deathâ - the Silverback, Wolfie and "the Man from Nowhere" Alan Norris compete for just the one quarter final spot. I donât need to tell you anything about the standard of this tournament other than that Martin Adams, the reigning World Champion, isnât even seeded! That says it all. Iâm tipping Norris myself. The most improved player on the circuit this year and a real dark horse. Heâs my long range each way tip for Lakeside.
At the start of the year I said weâd see a fitter and more focussed Ted Hankey. I think that the Count has achieved this to a certain extent, but he hasnât even qualified for this tournament. Therefore my start of the year prediction that Ted would win this tournament wonât happen. With the all round strength of BDO darts, Iâm not overly surprised however.
Itâs not just the menâs tournament that will be keeping the interest up - Group A in the womenâs draw looks seriously tasty. Good to see Anastasia Dobromyslova back in top BDO action. I wonder will defending youth champion Jimmy Hendriks will be trying to nail the Foxy Lady in the bar afterwards?

What channel is this âMassiveâ tournament on?
Iâm delighted to announce that all real darts fans can catch all the action here from 18:45 hours this evening:
http://www.rtvnh.nl/live/tv
The Dutch news is on at the moment. Theyâre discussing flooding.
Ha Ha, you think some channel like Challenge tv would pick up this rubbish? I suppose you canât blame them, be like watching darts at my local.
Iâd say the minute you walk in the door of your local everybody else walks out.
Yeah, especially when the BDO is on the big screen, all of twice a year.
You only go into your local twice a year? Hardly a local then is it?
I just go in twice a year to see does anyone actually watch the BDO, bartender said to me âyou hardly expect anyone to watch that rubbish, business is bad enough without putting on amateur dartsâ so no one does watch the BDO.
Ah right. You go to the pub twice a year, both times with the express purpose of seeing whether people are watching BDO darts. Youâre a fucking weirdo.
No wonder the BBC are dropping this rubbish, shocking stuff, Tony Eccles will fit in like a glove.
Fit in like a glove? are you retarded?
His boyfriend obviously anal fists him with gloves on.
Shocking news from Holland as my sources tell me that reigning youth champion Jimmy Hendriks has ignored the charms of Anastasia Dobromyslova and has instead made straight for Trina Gulliver, dragging her into a toilet cubicle. Apparently with all the flooding in Holland at the moment the young Dutch kid felt that the least he could do was stick his finger in a dyke.
Ah boys no need to get personal, truth hurts i suppose.
Semis:
Scott Waites v Martin Adams
Ross Montgomery vs Darryl Fitton
Scotty 1-0 up in sets.
Scotty averaging an incredible 111.
But typical resilience from Wolfie to come back and make it 1-1 in sets. The Undisputed World Champion of All Darts is averaging well over 100 himself.
