Beat the bookies 27th Nov

Stuttgart are an unbelievable 5-4 to beat Rangers at home. Stuttgart have returned to form in a big way while Rangers will huff and puff but ultimately look goal shy in Europe (one crazy night in Lyon aside). Stuttgart have risen through the Bundesliga like a runaway helium baloon of late and deserve backing at odds I doubt will make it til tomorrow. Other games to put it with look trickier. Pick yer own. But get on.

I thoroughly agree Juhniallio but I’ll wait until after the game to give you a karma hit.

I like the vibes from the Stuttgart camp, especially Hitzlsperger’s quote.

From the vfb website:

Gathering points for Germany

Despite their early exit from European competition this season, Armin Veh still has plans for the remaining UEFA Champions League games. At the pre-match press conference, the Stuttgart coach made it very clear that his side have every reason to give their all and win the match: “We want to pick up the points for ourselves, our fans and our country as well as having a responsibility in relation to Olympique Lyon to give our all.” Yildiray Bastrk and Arthur Boka will not be available against Glasgow Rangers whilst the participation of Mario Gomez is still hanging in the balance after picking up an injury on Saturday. On a more positive note, Serdar tasci could be an option again for his trainer.

The cream of club football

German international Thomas Hitzlsperger is also determined to see his side win the game: “The Champions League is the absolute cream of club football. The best players in the world play in the Champions League. We want to prove that we are capable of beating the likes of Glasgow Rangers.”

Showing the true VfB

When asked about motivating his players for the game, Armin Veh commented: “I believe my team are healthily motivated. All other things aside, this is a Champions League game at a sold-out stadium. We have a lot to make up for, it still frustrates me that we didn’t have our full compliment available to us at the start of the competition. Tomorrow we want to show the true VfB Stuttgart.”

Bayern are 4-6 to win away at Sp. Braga. I think this is a super price considering their draw agin Bolton in the first round leaving them wanting to win to ensure some group prominence. They should be far superior.
20e on Bayern and Stuttgart returns 75e

I’ve also put on a crazy outside bet.

Man U to beat Lisbon
Stuttgart to beat Rangers
Chelsea to beat Rosenberg
Celtic to beat Shaktar
Werder to beat Real
Liverpool to draw with Porto

5e renders 500 if it works, which it won’t I suppose. But I’d be delighted if it did.

Had a quick glance through the odds today and I was very pleasantly surprised to see the Stuttgart price. I was going to back them at the weekend at Frankfurt at 13/8 but got a bit scared of Frankfurt’s excellent home form.

I don’t think the bookies have copped on to VFB’s resurgence yet and that’s why there’s still a bit of value about them.

Having said that Basturk is out tomorrow (his partnership with Hitzelsperger has been crucial) and Gomez is a doubt. Gomez played like a more leaden type of balloon in the recent game in Croke Park but that was on his way back to fitness. Since then he’s been superb and missing those two would be a huge blow.

That said I still think 5/4 is way too big a price for VFB.

I’ve put the child welfare money on Stuttgart. If the huns fook me over then it’ll be a double blow as the fooks will go through too. :dizzy:

Went for a treble of CSKA, Lyon and Stuttgart.

If one is to let me down, it better be CSKA !!!

Just checked the various team line-ups on uefa.com and I’m pretty certain about the 8/1 accumulator below!

Dynamo Kiev v Roma
Roma @ 4 - 5

Inter Milan v Fenerbahce
Inter Milan @ 2 - 5

Man Utd v Sporting Lisbon
Man Utd @ 2 - 5

Seville v Arsenal
Seville @ 11 - 10

A sigh of relief there as Stuttgart equalised just on half time. The huns scored from a set piece and promptly retreated back with 10 men inside their own box as usual and hacked everything that moved.

McGregor made a few excellent saves in fairness to him before they switched off from a corner just before the break and a quick delivery into the box was flicked in by Cacau.

The highlight of the first half was Lee McCulloch going through one of the Stuttgart players before the right back came in and raked down his calf after the whistle went forcing him off.

It`s quite nervewracking watching it considering the money I’ve riding on it.

A huge amount of the Stuttgart supporters are sporting Celtic scarves too - a legacy of the 2003 game there.

Oh, what a night.

I remember 27th November, 2007.

Stuttgart shoot down the huns and the accumulator above came in too.

I`m finding it mildly amusing that the huns are now financing my trip to Glasgow over the next days. Hail hail to Walter, Ally and all the rest of them - the absolute hun scumbags.
