Fair play to Beckham. :guns:

Erm … !!! Care to explain the logic of that?

All else aside, Beckham’s a decent bloke. A good player who, with one exception (against an Argie who deserved it), was an excellent example. One of the few best known internationals who makes a good role model on the pitch. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I think he’s more than sharp enough. He has a lot more success (and money) than any of us will ever have and unlike many of his fellow soccer superstars, he hasn’t been blowing it stupidly.

Apparantly soccer seems to draw idiot suporters the world over. You wouldn’t get that behaviour at an NFL game.

How dare he suggest soccer standards are higher in Italy !!!

Beckham should get himself out of that contract and come back to Europe. He’s said he’d consider a return to England, though Italy is a more likely spot. The Arabs should make the Galaxy an offer they can’t refuse and have him at City setting up crosses to Tevez and Adebayor. :guns:

I don’t see how turing your life into a gaudy, publicity-driven circus while pimping yourself out to any brand that’ll pay is being a good role model.

pussy, he makes a mock effort to jump the hoarding just after a heap of heavies get in between them.

idiotic move by beckham, those fans have every right to be pissed off with him, he should put his head down and earn his money or fuck off back home for good.

Whatever happened to Steamboatsam?

Completely invalid point. Mrs Beckham is mistress of her own publicity driven career. If anything it is her who has hi-jacked her husband’s fame to improve her lot.

Agreed that he shouldn’t have been at the barrier, silly move. Even sillier would have been to actually jump it.

The fans have no such right. What he does in the off-season is irrelevant. The problem is that they thought a single EPL player at the tail-end of his career could carry a whole team.

I agree that he should go home, but only because he’s wasting his time on their unrealistic expectations. The LA Galaxy hired him to sell merchandise, not win matches.

it wasnt off season. he has missed 18 games of their league season so far.

I stand corrrected. But it doesn’t significantly alter my point. LA Galaxy bought him to sell merchandise and despite all their huffing and puffing, they let him go to Italy. Beckham is not a 90 minute full season player any longer anyhow.

Beckham took on another fan over the weekend.

Always struck me as an alright sort. Perhaps he doesnt hit Posh as much as bandage would like, but all in all, a sound skin I’d say.

Agreed. I’m already on record as saying he’s an alright sort. I’d blame the wife for the perception some people have of him. A pity such an attractive man ended up with something like her, one can only contemplate what he could have ended up with if she hadn’t deliberately trapped him by getting pregnant after the 98 World Cup. One of the great ‘what ifs’ of the modern footballing era.

Disappointing scoring record off the field considering all we know of is that Loos wan and that Posh bint. Still, I’d say Posh is right gamey in the sack.

David Beckham’s time at the Los Angeles Galaxy continues to grow sour as he was sent-off in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Seattle Sounders FC.

The former England captain was given a straight red card for a tackle on Sounders midfielder, Peter Vagenas, in the 17th minute.

Beckham was booed off the field but he insists there was no maliciousness involved.

“Pete is one of my best friends,” he said. “I think it’s a hard tackle but not with means for a red card. I’ve never gone in one tackle wanting to hurt someone. The referee saw it differently.”

Real Salt Lake upsets L.A. Galaxy to snatch MLS Cup

November 23, 2009 – Updated 0814 GMT (1614 HKT)

Seattle, Washington (CNN) – Defender Robbie Russell led Real Salt Lake to an upset win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night in a penalty shootout that gave the underdogs victory in extended time and the Major League Soccer Cup title.

The Galaxy struck first, with midfielder Mike Magee drilling a goal in the 41st minute into the open net. His score came after David Beckham passed to Landon Donovan, who tapped Magee on the far post, according to MLSnet.com.

Real Salt Lake came back in the 64th minute when Robbie Findley scored after Yuri Movsisyan’s attempt on goal was blocked, tying the match and setting up the penalty shootout. Beckham led off the Galaxy, scoring easily, but his team lost the shootout 3-2, making Real Salt Lake the first sub-.500 team to win the title, according to MLSnet.com.

Beckham is due to return to AC Milan in January for another loan spell as he bids to secure a place in England’s World Cup squad for next year’s finals in South Africa.

The English midfielder’s future in the U.S. had appeared in doubt earlier in the season when his commitment was called into question following a loan spell with the Italian club during which he had indicated an apparent desire to continue playing in Italy.

Beckham had earlier said that playing in Sunday’s final ranked alongside winning the Primera Liga title with Real Madrid in 2003 and a trophy-laden spell at Manchester United that included six English Premier League titles and the 1999 Champions League crown.

“Anytime you reach a certain part of the season, whether it’s being in a cup final or winning leagues, it’s always special,” Beckham said. “Being involved in finals never gets old.”

I just want to go on record here to add that I think Beckham is an alright sort.

A serious footballer in his day, as good of a right foot as there was in the world and a tough fucker as well.

The missus then turned him into a joke which was never more epitomised by his carry on in the last World Cup with his tears when he went off injured.

Rumours been doing the rounds that the Beckham LA Galaxy experiment is done. Galaxy refused loan deal and are believed to be willing to offload him. Beckingham Palace having the dustsheets removed as they prepare to welcome them home. 'Arry is monitoring matters closely.
