Best Irish songs

Power of Dreams - The Jokes on Me from Immigrants Emigrants and Me which is probably alongside Whipping Boy’s Heartworm the best debut album of any Irish band

Heartworm wasn’t Whipping Boy’s debut album, that would be Submarine (which is very good but no Heartworm).

Why do all the Irish rock albums of the era sound like they were recorded in someone’s parents back kitchen?

Did not know that.

Something Happens - Been There seen that done that was horribly produced

Power of Dreams - 100 ways to kill a love

I suppose the studios outside Windmill Lane weren’t great and the preferred 80s/90s sound of the time. Anything recorded in Windmill Lane is generally very good, Heartworm for example still sounds excellent.

It was, Burn Clear is barely audible. I’d recommend the I know Ray Harman EP live version.

Immigrant, Emmigrants and Me is an utterly brilliant album.

Alright sort John Creedon played this song a while ago from my old college mucker Niall Connolly, not the best by any means but a good Irish song nonetheless, start at 2:00 if Corkness offends you

Bump. Was going through the Sinead thread there and for some reason one song reminded me of this masterpiece.

For me Neil Hannon is in the conversation for greatest Irish artist of all time

Neil is doing the soundtrack for the new Wonka movie. Should be interesting

No mention of ‘A Bunch of Thyme’ by Foster and Allen. Yet they are in the Roaster thread? Gem of a song.
