Birds

She has a bright green tip to her beak to match the colour of her feet.

I put your photo into Google lens.

Definitely a moorhen though.

Yeah - I googled it after you posted and it’s that breed alright.

My hens gave this jackdaw some going over. Killed it for a finish.

What class of bird is this?

Here he is after the dog had half ate it, but before i brought it back to life

Juvenile thrush maybe?

You can get a cream for that

Saw a Barn Owl :owl: there on my way home. First time seeing one in years.

You be much more likely to see a Long Eared Owl :owl: around this neck of the woods

Good to see. Numbers declining for years but have stabilised, and now increasing in Munster with a marked increase in productivity.

Secondary poisoning and deaths on motorways a concern but hopefully can overcome these factors.

Revival linked to an otherwise unwelcome colonisation by the Greater White-toothed Shrew.

The youngest lad got 4 hens over the summer and has a little business now selling eggs to the grandparents. Found one of the hens dead tonight, no sign of violence so I don’t think it was a fox. Hopefully not some strain of avian flu that will wipe out the rest of them.

All my hens, bar one, died over the space of the last 6 weeks. Very strange, in that there was never two dead at the same time. Usually 5 or 6 days inbetween.

I still haven’t heard the mating call of the yellow belly sap sucker. It’s on my bucket list.

A bastard of a starling came down the flue of the stove and is now scratching away somewhere inside between the firebox and the flue ; would the humane thing to do be just to light the thing?

UPDATE; Bird has been exited through the door of the stove and out the adjoining window. Moved one of the baffle plates to allow him to make his way into the firebox. Closed all doors and curtains except one window; opened the door of the stove and exfiltration thereafter was a success. Now to light the stove in case the cunts are nesting

Hi mate.

Have you ever heard the mating call of the yellow bellied sap sucker?
