There’s some sort of plugin that you can use that disguises Reddit as Outlook. Very handy but you’d have to be careful with regards to NSFW stuff
I honestly have never gone on Reddit Ireland. Like politicians, I’d imagine it’s a reflection of the society itself. And that ain’t pleasant when it comes to Irish Internetters. Just look at Irish Twitter. A nawful place.
Interesting development on the Boards.ie front. They were going to shut the site down at the end of the year if they didn’t get 100k raised by donations/subscriptions. Donations were very slow coming. Last week they seemingly announced that they raised the necessary 32k to keep the site going for another 14 months. Makes it seem as though they knew nobody was falling for their scheme or were content enough to consign Boards to the archive.org history books.
Is @Turenne still a mod over there?
I found out the other day that Politics.ie has gone to the great big server in the sky.
Apparently has been gone since August.
@glenshane must be breathing a sigh of relief.
I was fairly positive Boards was goosed. They lost a ridiculous amount of users after they fucked up some migration and went offline for a long time. Just seemed to be the tipping point for most extremely online types like ourselves to move elsewhere to reddit etc.

The mods are either on a serious power trip there, or they’re hiding under the bed at the thought of possible litigation.

That place was policed or self policed by screaming Marys/Jonothans. Ruined any half decent thread whilst still allowing some reprehensible shit they agreed with like awful stuff about the McCann family. You could say whatever hurtful unhinged thing you wanted as long as it agreed with their hurtful unhinged opinion.
And the legal advice thread where you could neither ask for nor receive legal advice which ran some interesting topics into the buffers.
The weather thread is/was good though.

This makes me think of this parody song, which I also thought about recently when Maria Steen was portraying herself as the Queen of Ireland.
The same lads who did this did “There’s No One As Irish as Barack Obama”, and they clearly deserved to be shot dead for that, but they deserved to be brought back from the dead for this, especially as they had the whole thing recorded and put out within a couple of hours of George Lee resigning.

The problem Boards.ie has is the same as the INTERNET in general. It’s absolutely infested with relentless far right trolls.
The Israel/Palestine thread is a good case in point. The exact same fellas pushing the Israeli line now as in 2023 and getting away with it. But it’s the same with literally anything political.
There’s a fella there called Manic Moran who I initially thought surely had to be Labane. But he’s actually a real life fella who is in the US Army and lives in Texas and has a YouTube channel and wears a Dublin Arnotts jersey in it while standing in front of actual tanks.
