Boards.ie Hacked

Lolz.

This could be the end of me. Nobody wants that. I may have to start posting as @noddy again.

Just don’t revert to @Woody alias.

RIP.

Is rte bollixed now.

Working for me

Is boards still fucked?

@Bandage - why did you lock the 1916 thread?

We had a threat of legal action in reference to a post on the thread and I closed it pending receipt of advice but I’ve just reopened it.

Good work. Carry on.

Go on… what post was it at least?

That’s a much more interesting explanation than the far more plausible; I must have locked it by accident, not really sure what happened to be honest.

Sshhh

I hope it was the IRB (International Rugby Board) threatening to sue over being implicated in an armed insurrection against the British Empire from their Dublin 2 headquarters.

Who sees the new boards.ie design? It’s not the default for me yet but my God it’s dreadful. It’s still obviously a huge site but they’re in big trouble.

Open a subforum and you can’t even see the first thread on my laptop because of ads.

Here’s the soccer forum:

Even when you get past the ads, you can still only see 5 threads in a view:

Compare that to TFK where you get to see 11 on screen.

We’ve had some mildly controversial redesigns here in the past but that’s a dreadful stab at modernity. Ads are far too prominent, far too much space, nowhere near enough content on screen.

And their menu system is appalling now. You hover over the menus at the top to get a sub menu appearing in from the left hand side. Bizarre. I haven’t used it on an iPad or anything but using hovers for menus is shite because it won’t work on tablets.

I think they’re going to struggle to remain relevant with their heavy-handedness, their strictness and their crap new design. It will still remain a huge resource for past content but it’s not the thriving community it used to be.

There’s is possibly a different view for when you login, ie that casual visitors see more prominent advertising than registered users.
