Always had great time for Bobby, remember seeing a documentary on him when he was at Newcastle and he seemed like a genuinely decent bloke, totally at odds to the idiots he was managing at Newcastle like Dyer et al. When you see the state Newcastle are in now you have to admire what he did there.
Article from todays Times here, he doesn’t look great.

Sir Bobby Robson’s warm smile was unmistakable as he was made an Honorary Freeman of the City of Durham yesterday.
The former England manager took a break from his fight against cancer to accept the honour, attending the event at Durham Town Hall with his wife Elsie. His distinctive head of silver hair may have gone and his face may now bear the strain of battling cancer for a fifth time, but Sir Bobby once again captured the hearts of the people of his home city showing by showing that he hadn’t lost the glint in his eye.
The 75-year-old was given a standing ovation as the mayor Grenville Holland told him: “You are one of our own. We are proud to have you in our midst.” Describing him as “a great man and a local hero”, the mayor added: “Nobody is more deserving of the freedom of Durham than Sir Bobby Robson.”
The former Newcastle United manager, who is currently receiving chemotherapy for tumours on his lungs, was honoured in recognition of his services to football and his charity work, having raised more than 1million since he was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in 2007.
He was first diagnosed with cancer 16 years ago and despite his poor health, Sir Bobby remains in good spirits. Speaking at an event in Country Durham last month, he said: “I’m fighting, doing very well, I have some small health problems,” he said.
"A bit of radiation has resulted in me losing my hair. But I’m eating, sleeping and going to football I’m trying to get as much enjoyment out of life as I can.’
He began his football career while still at school in Langley Park, Durham. He signed to Fulham in 1950 and went on to play for West Bromwich Albion and England. As a manager he won the FA Cup with Ipswich Town before taking England to the 1990 World Cup semi finals. He was made a Freeman of Newcastle three years ago and granted the Freedom of Ipswich last year.
