Bookmakers and general Money Laundering on the Dark Web

He is going in studs up. What is the end game?

I’d say Yatesy junior has had a few sherries. He unloaded on Icy on a Twitter spaces a few months ago half cut

Sure it’s to do with payouts over 2k. I’m not sure what difference they hoped that would make?

You’d have to do the KYC check up front if bet was 2k apparently…this way they only needed to do it if horse won

What’s the gist of it?

Yatesy in top form on Virgin Media tonight.

Why did he not just place bet with one of the on course firms

How many shops did Paddy Power cut back to the last time? Ladbrokes have gotten out, BarOne must be the next biggest in terms of outlets now

Won’t be many takers for them I’d imagine. Way too many shops and like ghost towns. Would require enormous investment then to break into big new markets (USA for example).

Yeah, I have to agree with that. I think the day of the high street bookies is coming to an end. Anytime I’m inside a place now, it’s either empty or full of fellas with drug addictions, it’s only a social service for them. I’ve seen their beaten dockets, one euro, two euros on the numbers or some other rubbish like toy racing.

Last time I was in, there was a young upcoming drug dealer, giving verbal abuse to a nice wee girl behind the counter, That’s about the only sort of interaction there is now. No, I’d say the high street bookies are done

Once Powers starting cutting back the writing was probably on the wall.

Not following it too closely but seems new/upcoming regulations in the UK will have a big impact and seems to be thoughts (among people with vested interest) that a lot of people will switch to black market companies.

Not sure if thats really plausible. Everything is so tightly policed with suspicious transactions regulations, I cant see how an unlicensed bookie would operate with any significant turnover

Can someone post that up does it mention a valuation? Current profits etc?

Yeah unsure about that as well. I suspect a fair bit of scare mongering.

Imagine can’t provide with any sort of accurate figures as to many people use unregulated/black market bookies.

Hard enough get legal bookies to payout. Dunno how you could punt with confidence with some random on whatsapp

The black market just refers to bookmakers operating offshore say but without a license to operate in Ireland. So it’s illegal as the state can’t tax them but also they can’t really touch them. It doesn’t just refer to some fella operating out of a terraced house on whatsapp. But yeah if you’ve a big win with them you’ve no right to legal recourse then if they refuse to pay out. Probably be grand for most recreational/mug type punters though.
