Paddy Barnes secures his place in the quarter finals by way of first round knockout.

Barnes, Conlan, McCarthy, Ward, and Quigley are all fighting for a world championship medal tomorrow.

What’s sadder is he will more than likely win it!

Makes you want to root for Manny all over again.

It is pretty sad though. One of the best fighters of the last 30 years, and one of the greatest technicians you could ever see, and he’s so broke he has to resort to this. He’s punch-drunk as fuck too to make things worse.

You could say McComb lost out by the width of a hair.

I never seen anybody as exciting to watch as pacquiao when he was in his prime in full flight, unbelievable speed and power in both hands and didnt mind taking a punch to land one himself, the move into politics has ruined him but i hope he knocks the shit out of rios

Thats what Conlan gets for getting involved in that fucking apprentice.

What’s the story with Ward? I can get Ring A on the RTE Player but not Ring B. They listed him as being down for 3:15pm…And he ain’t been in Ring A for the last half hour.

Won in a First round stoppage

Ward and Quigley guaranteed medals so. Surprised that Barnes lost.

Irish camp LESS than pleased with some of referees today apparently.

Would his opponent coming from the same part of the world that the tournament is on have anything to do with it?
(I’m presuming Uzbekistan is close to Kazahkstan)

I didn’t get to watch any of the streams so I don’t know, but I heard he was well beaten. In general that’s an issue alright though, favoured nations get a lot of dodgy decisions in these amateur tournaments.

I’m presuming that info came from the Uzbek Interior Ministry.

We got done.

Excellent Ringside special on Sky Sports One now about Dubliner Brendan Ingle and his boxing gym

Jason Quigley wins his semi-final by UD.

It would be hard to find a better opponent for a prime Pac than Rios. Heavy footed and very easy to hit. If his chin is cracked them Rios will pose a threat though. He has real power, or at least he had at 135&140, and he’s crafty enough on the inside to do damage if Manny doesn’t have the legs to keep him at a safe distance. I’d be surprised if Manny didn’t stop him all the same. He’s definitely in physical decline but he’s still fast enough and bangs hard enough to light up the likes of Rios. If he looks spectacular just wait for the Pacweather hype to start all over again.
