I think your prediction of us getting to November was wildly optimistic.

Any parent who hasnt bought the kid’s Christmas presents by now can forget about it. Taiwan won’t exist next month. Time to refurbish some second hand toys.

I presume Taiwan have no defence systems?

Taiwan is one large defence system, it is one of the most fortified countries in the World.

The Chinese will surely steam roll it?

Time to buy a new phone. Wont be a chip available

Be grand.

They’d have to try flatten it from the air first. It’s a bit of a natural fortress in it’s geography, no?
A straight up ground invasion would see millions perish.

There’s millions of them to replace them millions.

And lads probably still think covid wasn’t made in a lab

Nothing to worry ourselves about lads.

It’s been 2 wars since my last confession father…

What’s the real angle here lads.

Pelosi is told don’t visit by White House, she visits anyway and the Chinese say there’ll be repercussions.
Now they’re saying Taiwan must come back into the motherland lap….

Driving up commodities further?

They have, Team America. Silicone Valley needs to be on the tit of Taiwan a while yet

It would be interesting to see what the Chinese tech is actually made of. Unlike Ukraine, the US have Taiwan, forewarned and forearmed, they have state of the art everything. It could be quantity vs quality.
No matter what advancements are made in technology a natural border like 100 miles of sea remains a formidable obstacle.
The Chinese have tended to be very deliberate in all their actions. I think it is unlikely they would have a rush of blood to the head. I would expect this to be just saber rattling, but fuck knows.
I would think they have seen the shit show that is the Russian economy post the Ukraine invasion and will be wary of similar devastation.
They are in the middle of an economic meltdown at the moment though, so a war is always a good distraction. I would expect this chest beating is certainly partly to do with that

The Putin lackies on twitter will tell you the Russian economy is flying it.

I’d be pretty surprised if China invaded, even in advance of the marked out date on calandar that they have deemed it unacceptable not to have it back by. It would really damage their capitalism with Chinese characteristics program and probably the whole CCP rule. They didn’t try it when they had little to lose, why try now?

I think they’ll go back to trying skullduggery locally.

Been talk for the last year or so that Xi Jinping faces “re-election” as leader of the Chinese Communist Party in August 2022?

My expert understanding of Taiwanese geography is that the western side of it of is rocky and not conducive to amphibious invasion.

Nevertheless, I would expect China to roll the dice and try to invade Taiwan at some point over the next five years.

As somebody once said, the key lesson to take from history is the bad guys roll the dice, they always roll the dice.

If you do a google maps on main land China and Taiwan, and pull out the little fellow in the corner you’ll see two groups of islands near main land China which are under Taiwan (ROC) control. It would seem to any neutral that these islands would be more at home being part of China (PROC)

China tried to get these island by force a few time since the 1950s. The first time they were blown back and the second time the US set sail and they withdrew. So not only do Taiwan have a huge and capable army, they also have the yanks backing them.
