Brexit hub

thats why mick is shitting himself for the past week

Ours will still be lower and we’ll still be in the EU. Fuck the cunts.

15% pffft ours is about 3%

UKIP’s only future now is to drift further to the right and become a sort of BNP light or Le Pen-type party. Much as I despise Farage and consider him a horrible shit, he kind of kept a lid on UKIP becoming an out and out, unashamed racist party. That lid may well come off now and it could become a much more nasty entity than it already is. Their problem is that Farage pretty much was UKIP and they have nobody of remotely the same charisma to take over.

Farage is at heart an attention seeker and a messer more than anything else. Like pretty much everybody on the Leave side, he knows he can’t deliver the promises of a campaign based on lies, so is getting out while the going is good.

Seems to me like it’s the Engerlish that are shitting themselves. They wouldn’t hurl economics to a duck

ah you cant really despise Farage, or take him serioulsy
He’s a messer and a protest politician, he is the exact same as any of the AAA/PBP guys in Dublin and any Sinn Fein politician in the Dail
They have no reasonable aganda at all , they score points from the establishment and are opportunists, he played this one brilliantly and the Shinners and boyd barrett should really take note as he is everything that they have tried to be in Ireland since 2009
its a bad reflection on society when these people are listened to and given a voice, they should merely be harmless lads in the background who we can get a laugh off like Joe Higgins but now people actually are taken in by them as they are disillusiuoned with the current state of play
Theyre neither left nor right they’re just opportunists, anti water charges one day, fuck the bankers the next… Farage nailed this as the syrian refugees came along, Paul Murphy has scope here to play this card, he’s equally as self centered and power hungry, Boyd Barrett also, who is to say they wont play this card next

The longer the UK government delays invoking Article 50, the more chance the “facts on the ground” have of changing.

But it’s impossible to predict how that would play in terms of whipping up racism, xenophobia and the emergence of a hard right with popular support in England.

Polls in six months or a year might show a majority in favour of staying in the EU, but those who still want out will be whipped into a frenzy if they think they aren’t going to get their way, and that could have very dangerous consequences.

Theresa May and Philip Hammond are now playing bad cop over the consequences of leaving by implying that existing EU migrants might have to be deported. By painting the consequences of leaving as such, they may be hoping to sway public opinion back against leaving and as a tactic to delay as long as possible in order to ultimately bring about another referendum.

Fwiw, my general take is that the far right fanatics, are, and will be, far right fanatics irrespective. I don’t think another referendum will make them any more so.
The obvious thing would be to hold a referendum over whether to invoke article 50.
The multinationals have the western world gyrating round poles whilst they shove greasy dollars into their G strings.

Why would they need a referendum to invoke article 50?

The people have voted to leave the EU albeit the wool may have been pulled over their eyes but that was the question, Article 50 is only the mechanism to leave.

The Leave vote have only thought about the decision, the never thought about the aftermath and now they are fucked. A general election would be needed in order to sort this mess out as most of the MPs voted remain.

Optics, dear boy, optics. Of course it would, in fact, be a rerun, just like Ireland had with the Lisbon treaty. It just wouldn’t be called that.
I thought that was clear from my original post.

fair point chief.

Now there are two words I never thought I’d see on TFK.
The best thing written about brexit was on here. You could just tell the thick fuckers that brexit had happened, and most would believe it.

The whole thing was outstanding. I bet he’d be some crac over a few pints.

Theresa May well on top after the first round of voting. Liam Fox and Steven Crabb have withdrawn and said they will back her. Red Rover.
