The full legal advice published on Brexit by the British AG make it clear that under international law ie the GFA that there can never be a hard border on this island. So unless there is eventually a border in the Irish Sea under future negotiations it’s hard to see how Brexit will actually happen in any meaningful sense.
The EU are the one’s who will have to impose a hard border on the Island of Ireland

She quipped, that the UK should starve the Irish until common sense prevails about the backstop… Besides the incredible historical insensitivity Ireland is has a surplus when it comes to food production, I think we rank no.2 on that scale while Britain ranks 8th… Once again showing how clueless the tans are when it comes to Ireland and how the Tories think it’s still the 19th century and Britannia rules…

In a British government report leaked to the Times yesterday, Ms Patel claimed that Ireland could face worse food shortages than Britain if there is a no-deal Brexit, and that shortages should be used to encourage the EU and Ireland to scrap the North’s backstop deal.
“This paper appears to show the government were well aware Ireland will face significant issues in a no-deal scenario,” she said. “Why hasn’t this point been pressed home during negotiations? There is still time to go back to Brussels and get a better deal.”
The idiocy and ignorance on display from the british politicians over the last couple of years has been staggering and not just in relation to Ireland.
