BREXIT thread

Mogg and the ERG are desperately looking for a climb down. Won’t be tonight but they will eventually.

She is in an awkward timing position now. Doesn’t look like tonight is a runner but the two next votes will make it difficult for her deal to ever get passed.

True. If she loses tonight I think plan is then a vote to take no deal off the table but not clear how binding that is and even if passed then a vote to seek some extension but how long not clear and not clear how binding that vote is. Is it merely advisory, can a negotiating position be mandated by parliament to the government?

There is still a risk of a slide accidentally to no deal Brexit

Yep, they already tried to climb down at this point by saying they’d be happy with the legally binding assurances and clarifications if the DUP were. Of course those headbangers weren’t going to ratify it once the AG’s advice came back.

Vote fails tonight.
No deal taken off the pitch.

ERG shift as Brexit is in danger.

Question is then is the DUP and whether they will still vote it down. Additionally you have the likes of Grieve who doesn’t sound like he will ever vote for deal unless there is a referendum attached. She will get some Labour votes across for it I imagine. Will be close either way I imagine.

WTO rules will apply. Pariah state? Calm down Bosco.

He’d fit in well around here.

In any contract you’d ever negotiate you’d have an exit clause. I don’t think it’s unrealistic for the Brits to have one. But the EU’s reluctance to give one to them and to insist on the backstop is because of their lack of confidence in agreeing a trade deal with the UK given the fuckacting that has gone on for the past three years. The Brits should be ashamed of themselves, they are an embarrassment. The Brexit negotiations should have been conducted on a cross party basis.

Good one squarehead

Cheers pal.

You’ve missed the point squarehead.

He’s a good guy. Enjoyed his book a couple of years ago.
