BREXIT thread

Brexit is about power and money trying to crush accountability

Like Trumpism, it is at its core a kleptocratic project

Not to mention Boris and co

Boris has already ordered furniture for number 10

He’d want to soundproof the walls

A parable for our times

I just knew somebody would spot that. Didn’t think you’d sink there though

There is a toxic English nationalism brewing and going mainstream in the UK. When Brexit is a disappointment, as it almost inevitably will be, things could get quite ugly for the continent

There’s going to be a major war in Western Europe within 20-30 years, the calibre of politician currently being produced will enable it

Very hard to disagree with any of that

It’s fascism

Fascism is essentially a cult-like, fantasy view of the world - it totally rejects reality - dominant groups embrace total victimhood

Nobody has yet come up with a way of defeating it in the short term, because literally everything can serve as a reinforcer of fascist views - no deal Brexit would most certainly act as such too

The only ways it has been defeated are i) war or ii) many decades long endurance where fascism falls in on itself because of its rejection of intellectualism and basic human values

That cruise video is like the videos of the old German Nazis.

I first noticed it London during the Olympics, a huge dark energy that was dragging all the Brits into it. It was a very intoxicating atmosphere, I can see how they were infected by it.

Disagree here. I actually thought there was mostly, for the first time, a healthy national pride during the Olympics. It turned sour very quickly as that dangerous fool Cameron ripped off the Bandage, and has empowered (I despise the word, but it’s reasonable here) a swathe of fat purple oafs and young fattooed scrotes to indulge in recreational xenophobia and appalling behaviour. It was always there, but the really nasty underbelly is now widely on show.
