BREXIT thread

The Brexit Party wants to scrap inheritance tax

Party of the rich wants to change laws to favour the rich shocker

Brexit is a project to benefit the wealthiest 1% and always has been

Perhaps the biggest Orwellian con job the right ever pulled off was to pass off inherited wealth as “hard work”

Boris’s mass expulsion could be remembered as the moment when the UK irreversibly changed forever from a proper country to a basket-case like Italy.

My gf’s Italian. I had no idea how bad things are there until I got talking to her. It’s a failed society. She says the main thing that caused it was dickhead politicians from the 1990s onwards who weren’t proper politicians and just said anything to win votes without giving a shit.

Sure that’s right-wing politics everywhere summed up in a nutshell

And the right-wing press everywhere openly cheerlead and participate in this stuff, they are the essential conduit for it

They certainly did in this country in but compared to other countries, particularly English speaking ones, we’ve got off relatively lightly

Can we take it that you have a sub to the FT?

Why?

Why do I have a sub?
I’m of an age where all I really want to read are informed opinion pieces. I can and do get all the news here (and informed opinion pieces on occasion), so I don’t have much interest in any paper.
The FT is as good for them as anywhere. I have no interest in stocks and shares, but economics is really the science of human behaviour, which I find interesting.
I use the FT for this, but would happily take recommendations.
I honestly find TFK both more informed and informative than any other online resource currently.

We do have world class bullshitters on call to take every and any possible query.

I have lads like you to sort the wheat from the chaff.

The real problem with sharing the link is that it is a dead end without a sub. The FT has no allowance for free articles.

I take multiple free/cheap online subs via a couple of junior cchas who are registered at 3rd level. It is a very small payback on the annual net cost of fees and accomodation.
We have not found a use able offer for the FT

It does. It allows you to share 10 articles a week. I thought it would open. Maybe it only allows an individual rather than a social media share. If so, apologies. It just opens when I click it. It definitely used up one of my free shares though. :man_shrugging:

Could you not just register one of your lads, and log in via their sub then?

There is a workaround when posting ft links that gets past the paywall. Fucked if I can remember how do to it now

I thought that using one of the ten free shares would do it. Clearly not. Apologies

We did not find a way to register an Irish student for free/ v cheap

Why say irish? If they ask, just say NI or somesuch??

The Tories have been saying something similar about avoiding a hard border in Ireland for the last three years

Hon Leo :ronnyroar:

Leo will have driven the DUP absolutely demented with that speech.

As soon as someone explains it to them, they’ll be seething.
