BREXIT thread

Did anyone ask the voters what % of the blame they’d apportion to themselves?

The Today programme on Radio 4 is a joke

Take Johnson’s interview last week for instance - I’d say he got more intense interrogations when he stopped by Jennifer Arcuri’s flat

John Humphrys has just retired but was hopelessly pro-Brexit and hopelessly incompetent in terms of basic understanding of the mechanisms of the EU

Either that, or he was just a straight up liar and propagandist

He even admitted to routinely doing no research

I loved the Daily Telegraph/ComRes poll from July 1914

“Who is to blame for us not having gone to war yet?”

Sky News have been the straightest on Brexit. Interestingly though they’ve lost a couple of their best correspondents to the BBC in recent months.

Channel 4 is Channel 4 and just talks to an audience already anti Brexit.

Faisal Islam is wasted at the BBC

It’s like if Manchester United signed Frenkie de Jong and only picked him for League Cup games, because Fred (Tory Kuennsberg) is first choice

Channel 4 News is comfortably the best news programme available on British Isles screens

Krishnan Guru-Murthy is the best interviewer on British TV

So of course Brexiteers and right-wing crackpots don’t watch it

It doesn’t provide confirmation bias for them

It’s not a coincidence that journalists from ethnic minority backgrounds tend to be best on the issue of Brexit

Who did they lose to the BBC?

I enjoy Nick from Newsnight. He’s the new Robert Peston.

This absolute nerd Tony Connelly. “Collapsing the scrum.”

This is the problem with Peston as well and it’s a problem across UK media

It’s no there have been 378 breathless front page stories claiming a “breakthrough” in Britain’s favour over the last few years, all 378 completely wrong

This is going to become quite nasty now. The UK relationship with EU is not going to be cordial for the short to medium term. We’re headed for a recession off the back of this but the UK are about to drive their economy off a Cliff.

Seems to be a twin track approach from the Brits. Westminster concentrates it’s attacks directly on Brussels while the DUP seem to be tasked with firing scuds at Dublin at every opportunity

This is why satire has vanished from British television

Apart from the Royal Family obviously.

And probably take is with us them.

While it’s become more and more likely all the time, I still don’t think there’ll be a hard Brexit at the end of the month

No most likely an extension but the Tories will win a majority in the GE on a Brexit mandate and then all bets are off.

Yeah the hardening of positions is not good for us at all.

Amen to that. Drivel of the lowest common denominator.

Predicting a GE at this point is impossible.

What is likely to happen though is that the Conservatives will lose all of their 13 Scottish seats.

One area of potential control is for SF to drop out of Westminister elections if they still refuse to take their seats. I don’t imagine they will but pressure should be put on them to step aside or take their seats.

Why dont he SDLP take their seats at Westminster?
