Brian Dooher

Absolutely not.

Kerry had nice players but in the white heat they couldn’t perform, that Tyrone side at the very least could match for talent but they couldn’t turn it on in the white heat like Tyrone could.

The Kerry players were show players in contrast, Canavan v Gooch is the greatest example. Canavan found another level when teams tried to get at him, Gooch wilted.

Canavan was better than Gooch but I think Gooch was better than the rest. Declan o sullivan better than mcguigan for eg. Brolly was thrones biggest fan and predicted they would win in 08 before game and at half time but he was certain kerry had the better players individually. I think that makes their three wins all the sweeter. It must be the sweetest and most sickening rivalry in gaa history. 3 wins to nil and big underdogs every time. Add in the puke football comment and its unreal :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

08 is a different story. Canavan had retired, O’Neill had only come back before the final after serious injury problems, McGuigan started on the bench after big injury issues in the previous two seasons. Mulligan was badly out of form.

Tyrone’s starting 6 forwards that day if memory serves me correctly were.

  1. Dooher
  2. Penrose
  3. Mellon
  4. McCullagh
  5. Cavanagh
  6. Tommy McGuigan

Yeah it was very weak on paper. You’re right throw mcguigan mulligan and canavan in there it matches up v favourably with say galvin o sullivan brosnan Cooper Donaghy t walsh. Darren o sull sheehan Mike Frank in reserve. Still think kerry would have slightly the edge individually over the field 9 to 6 or 8 to 7. It certainly does not matter a fuck though and as I said makes it all the sweeter Tyrone beat them every single time they played. I’d say it haunts the kerry lads.

Jesus he was some player left and right and seemed to be able to create the split second of space that all great players possess

I have a notion he was owner/editor of the Lucan Gazette or one of those efforts when I was still above

That’s nonsense, at a minimum Cavanagh, Dooher and McCullough would have got starting for Kerry, probably more.

He was saying that only Cavanagh was good enough and Brian Dooher wouldnt get near the Kerry team, what a diss, what an idiot.

An absolute cracker of a player. Very underrated.

Brian Dooher would be lucky to get into a Kerry club team ffs, he had no skill whatsoever
