That’s a good point. It’s better for somebody to support one righteous cause as well as a separate one I don’t agree with, rather than support neither.
I’m off down to my nearest Supermac’s to stuff myself in support of the Tank.
i) Naholo is not concussed and according to Steve Hansen is available for selection for the third test. So if sanctions are outcome-based, there’s no case to answer for O’Brien.
ii) It’s not even clear what led to Naholo going down in the first place. In fact a forensic examination of the incident indicates that it may well have been an accidental knee to the head by his own team-mate, number 23. He appeared to be already going down before O’Brien even made contact with him.
Seen the hit on the news last night. I didn’t realise attempts to knock your opponent out with a cowardly hit were punished in rugby. Is this a new thing?
Gatlands Wales team were the stand out bolters at the WC until they were hobbled by one of the most scandalous refereeing decisions I have ever seen, having their captain sent off for a tackle that wasn’t in many people’s mind at that time even a penalty.
An Irish Referee. That WC was basically handed to the all blacks. The Welsh, unlike ourselves let’s be honest, took this remarkably well. If the shoe had been on the other foot, we’d have been sending diplomats to the UN, snivelling en masse like we did when a soccer player actually dared to cheat to win a penalty.
Gatlands record at world cups, is actually pretty good, in that the Welsh under his tenure have been the best team at the world cup in one case.
He is a kind and decent individual, extremely knowledgeable, and has won a test in new Zealand against a team many thought unbeatable, with a scratch side of lads exhausted at the end of a long season.
I expect the all blacks to win the final test convincingly, aided in part by a kirwanesque refereeing display.
Nope. Didn’t drive him down. Yer man was only lifted because he was light. It was a bullshit card, which if it happened against ireland would have sent socodu into remorseless self pity for a generation.
Nothing to do with anything whether he was driven down or not. And you are right the Irish fans would have gone apeshit if it had happened one of our own. But the Welsh fans did go bannanas. They still fucking whinging about it
Haven’t made a diplomatic incident of it, unlike the terry Henry thing. I’ve heard very little whinging considering it likely cost them their best ever, and very sold chance of winning the world cup.
Nah that was absolutely a red card and the Welsh took it incredibly badly. What alternate reality are you living in (not to say the Irish would have reacted better)?
Id say the 6 years since it happened has helped you forget. Even Warburton coming out admitting it was the right decision didn’t shut them up. I think Rolland got death threats and all
