British Loins Tour to New Zealand 2017 - Official Thread

Incredible scenes.

Iain Henderson and Jonathan Joseph have just done a fair impression on Jordie Barrett of the 2005 tackle by Umaga and Mealamu on O’Driscoll.

Hendo is binned. A more controlled landing on the shoulder for Barrett means he escapes red.

Game on Ger

Try for Wellington. Smashing long pass by Jordie Barrett puts in their number 22 in the corner on the overlap.

Barrett is something else. He’s 20. He looks like he’s about 27 and has been New Zealand out-half for years.

Earlier North butchered what would have been his second try when he stepped in touch after chasing down an excellent bouncy grubber kick by Jonathan Joseph.

31-24 to the Loins after 70:05.

Uh oh. Another one under the posts. TV replay to confirm it.

It’s going to be 31-31.

Crucial knock on by 1/2 p.

Attacking scrum for Wellington.

Ha ha. I assumed you were on the wind up at the time. He’s not great at the best of times but he hasn’t played much in 2017 so he didn’t have much chance coming out here really.

He’s absolutely unbelievable player. I think he’s about 6ft 4 too he’s a massive fucker. Is he gone to 10 im not watching? He’s been 15 all season. Was eligible for u20 world cup too

Profitable morning

He’s playing at both full back and stand off half simultaneously. He’s playing wherever the fuck he wants.

Wellington somehow butcher a period of sustained pressure almost on the Loins’ line as they knock on.

Hendo is back on.

76:59 gone.

Scrum to Hurricanes deep in their own territory.

Looks like a draw.

DRAW

Wellington tried to run the last scrum from inside their own 22. They lost it and the Loins got it back.

After going through a few phases without gaining much ground it went back to Biggar whose drop goal attempt from 40 metres was pressured heavily and dropped under the bar before skidding out over the goal line despite Milner-Skudder’s attempts to catch it and run it back.

What. A. Match.

Best of the tour by a mile and there have been some good ones.

Disaster for the midweek team. They never pushed the Saturday starters and let themselves down badly this tour. This is part of the problem with Gatland, I doubt he was in there really busting the players for their performances.

Let me get this right. The Lions played 5 games against club sides in NZ and only won 2 of them.

A squad of full internationals failed to win 3 times against teams made up of mainly club players.

This really is some sort of junket at the end of the season and not the pinnacle of their careers as we are being led believe

From April 21st

Losing one was understandable given that the NZ franchises did play their All Blacks early on and are experienced teams that are in the middle of their season against scratch sides, but the record is unacceptable.
