It wouldn’t surprise me to see Gatland go with sexton/Farrell and Davies or north. Henshaw will be in the mix too.

Worst Lions squad ever. I’d take an OAP Sexton over Finn Russell. If Hogg doesn’t start then serious questions would have to be asked about Gatland, Hogg is their only good player.
Nonsense. It’ll be a fine squad. English are useless is all. You’d normally hope for a bit of English oak down the spine, but not this year. They have the physical attributes to be solid by and large, but are thick.
Henderson and Beirne bankers to be on tour. Henderson is exact type of player garland likes and can play 4,5,6 same as beirne.
Beirne more likely seen only as a 6 for test team tho. Could be in the 2nd row for mid week matches of not competing for the starting 6

Gatland will go for bulk against the Saffers to gain parity in set-pieces and compete in the air of the high veldt where the ball will spend an inordinate amount of time. I think his selection (not mine) will be something along the lines of:

Barnes team would get beaten by Ireland, wales, and probably Scotland. Watson is mediocre. Farrell shouldn’t even be picked as a dirttracker. The centres should be henshaw plus a Welsh. The best winger by a distance is in neither team. Has to ba a ballhop. Two English props and two English backrows from a pack beaten by Scotland, beaten well by Wales, and dismantled by Ireland. I’d say you couldn’t make it up, but they did.
