This crap ruins the Irish rugby team. The irfu should ban our players from it.
The Lions is the pinnacle of Rugby Union Football .
The Sydney Football Stadium RIP 1988-2019
One of the great British Loins venues
Is the Sydney Concorde Oval still in existence ? It was the venue for the 1987 classic World Cup semi final .
Yep
Concord Oval with no e on the end
I visited it some years ago precisely because I was aware that it hosted that storied match
You could just walk in off the street
Might be an opportune time at the end of the pool stages to select an updated team.
I imagine a lot of Scotland players will be included for their defensive qualities
Looks like they’ll concede 0 points for the third game in a row on Sunday
Mickey Mouse Rugby
Gordon Bray was a great commentator. The voice of Qantas Wallabies rugby.
Gordon Bray was a tremendous old school commentator
Still commentating I believe
It’s a real pity he invoked a rather unfortunate racist stereotype last year
Old age seems to do that to a lot of white folk
And Castlemaine XXXX Wallaby, Schweppes Wallaby and Vodafone Wallaby rugby too
I actually looked at the intro to the third test on YouTube some months back and was extremely impressed with the pre-match summaries from the panel
Very matter of fact, straight talking but calm in their assessment
Very old school BBC like
Keith Quinn, Gordon Bray and Hugh Bladen were a great triumvirate of commentators. The southern hemispheres answer to Bill McLaren, Fred Cogley and Nigel Starmer Smith.
Reliably informed joe Schmidt is going in as attack coach.
What a voice.
I wouldn’t be familiar with the commentary careers of Keith Quinn and Hugh Bladen, perhaps you could fill things in for those of us unfortunate enough not to have had the pleasure to listen to their commentaries, @ChairmanDan
Hugh Bladen was Naas Botha’s long standing understudy at out half during South Africa’s exile years. He was the voice of South African rugby for years. He did attract some criticism back in 1992 when after a rousing and unprompted rendition of Die Stem before the New Zealand test at Ellis Park he declared that if ‘you’re South African and there isn’t a lump in your throat after that, you’re not human’. cc @mickee321
Keith Quinn was the voice of New Zealand rugby for nearly four decades. Also the man who helped to make Garrett Tubridy a rugby superstar.
You’re making me feel old kid. I can still vividly recall that last minute Lawrie Knight try in the 4th test of the 1977 British Lions tour at Eden Park to hand New Zealand a most undeserved 10-9 win and deny our boys a 2-2 shared series. The Lions murdered New Zealand up front in that series, but with Gareth Edwards and JPR Williams not touring, were toothless behind the scrum.
