That try before half time is basket ball pass is unreal. Carter with pace is unreal too.

Ah yes, I know Hugh Bladen’s voice now
I think Eddie Butler is a fine commentator and something of a throwback to an earlier age of commentary in his style
The quality of voice is all important in a commentator
Butler, Bray and Starmer-Smith all have tremendously soothing voices
McLaren and Cogley were obviously the standard bearers on their respective stations for many years
I thought John Taylor on ITV was quite good too

Butler was still doing colour comms 20 years ago. The famous Scott Gibbs try at Wembley had Butler as colour commentator alongside Bill McClaren. Amazing he has carved out this roll for himself.

The original when it came to soothing voices was that stalwart of Bective Rangers, Cliff Morgan.

My grandad played on Morgan’s Rangers. I must dig out the Leinster Senior Cup medal next time I’m home.

Not looking good from an Irish point of view for @ChairmanDan ’s next selection
Hopefully Ireland will pull their players from this Mickey mouse tour.

Agreed. Although I suspect they won’t have to.
This world cup malarkey is thankfully out of the way. We are now only 20 months away from the main event.

I’m hoping that SARFU will schedule the three tests at traditional rugby stadiums like Newlands, Loftus Versfeld, King’s Park and Ellis Park
Sadly I fear that they will decide to play them at 2010 association football World Cup venues like Cape Town’s Green Point stadium, Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium and Soccer City in Johannesburg
This would be a disappointment
Il be lumping on south Africa to win this 2-1
