3/4 of a mill?
FFS.
id like to see the field they paid 250k for, and id like to see the farmer they bought it off.
got involved in bidding for a site about 3 years ago. was very interested, asking price 100k with no offers and on market for 2 months.
started at 75 and mysteriously bidders were coming out of the woodwork. was interested up to 100 but at that stage it was obvious i was bidding against myself. upped the ante at that point and 3 bids later was at 160. had a verbal agreement from the cunt of an auctioneer as he was dosing cattle one Friday evening and took great pleasure in pulling the plug Monday morning.
the field is now back as a field and wouldn’t be shifted for 75k.
1/4 acre plots were as big a rip off as 3 bed semis in commuter belts.
I was offered 3/4 an acre about 2 miles for Kinsale for 300k. I think the guy (a friend of a relation) thought i’d be delighted with it, fucking idiot. Now Kinsale is one of the best places to live in Ireland, but come fucking on. Thats why i was wondering what G-Man was so upset about with these guys on TV. Up to about 9 months ago you wouldn’t get more than an acre within 30 miles of Cork for less than 250k. I know it was Sligo but could there be such a difference in prices within a tiny country like ours.
That house looks like a timber frame house we’d put up in 2 months in Mass, USA.
Anyone know how long this took to build?

think it took them about 10 months from start date to moving in, and through winter as well. I still think 250k for a field full of stones in the middle of no where is a complete and utter rip off. And what annoyed me more about them was the fact that they admitted they paid ‘way over the odds’ for the land. they actually knew they were being ripped off but still went ahead with it. And people wonder how the recession came about. overspending on things that were already way way over valued.
Oh i totally agree, madness, anywhere for that matter. And you spot on about it being one of the main reasons we are so fooked now.
Kinsale would be a pretty savage spot to live alright. Handy enough commute to the city, beautiful location, buzzing town but on the flip side then…it’s Cork.
Kinsale is nice, but as a weekend break destination. You’d soon get sick of it after a while.
full of Brits also
Its not really, there is very little “Cork” about Kinsale. Way too posh for that. Full of Sailor boys, rich 2nd Gen. English, German, Dutch and American small business owners. Great food and pubs there though. Only major draw back though is that Kinsales 7’s, what a load of shite that is.

I went down to that one year. Some amount of knobs around. We didn’t go to any rugby, just arrived down on the Saturday evening for the session as one of the lads was playing down there. It was a good laugh though. It’s also helped that anytime I’ve been there the sun has been splitting the rocks so it always left me a favourable impression of the place.
Alot of yuppie kids down there alright.
The weather in all that South eastern pocket from Crosshaven to Kinsale seems to get the best of it.
I find its a brilliant all day bender place on a Saturday in either April-May or late August into September. Not too busy, but just busy enough to meet some of Corks finest birds down for the day.

had outline planning, but thats all. they had to submit their own plans and it was a shithole of a site.
I’ve just noticed that their overlooked too
Someone set them up.
just seen there that the episode is on google video. I missed the very start of it, so just saw there that the site was 0.78 acre in size. And they spent that even tho they owned a house already in Sligo.

I saw as well on one of the upcoming programs I’d know a lot of the consultants/subbies involved.

not sure mac. I’ll re read the thread again or else watch the first minute or so of the clip and get back to you…
Ah shucks, I was hoping for another rant from you about the stony field. You’ve only done it 4 times already today
