Expect to hear several commentator references to previous cup upsets and the ‘Super Caley Go Ballistic…’ headline.
Should be a tough game. I can’t recall Celtic ever beating them handily up there. Aside from the two upsets themselves, we were also on the verge of going out to them in 2007 until Celtic legends Steven Pressley and Kenny Miller scored 90th and 92nd minute goals.
We have Hearts away in the league on Wednesday night but I don’t think we can afford to rest players. I don’t think there’s any new injury concerns although it was confirmed yesterday that Bangura would be out for 12 weeks with this ongoing knee problem.
Our midfield shape has been a bit off since Kayal got injured and Wanyama’s form has dipped too. Not sure whether we can get away with playing Samaras or Commons and Forrest wide in a 4-4-2 or whether we may need Brown shoring up the midfield with Wanyama and Ledley and only one traditional wide player.
Would like to see Stokes and Hooper retained upfront and Mulgrew in the centre rather than at left back. I think Izzy may be dropped as he still looks rusty so it could be Ledley or Mulgrew at left back all right. Matthews should be restored to right back in place of Cha.
I’d go with the same team, feel Lennon will opt for Ki ahead of Samaras/Stokes. I’ve a feeling Stokes may be the one to miss out so we can put Samaras through the middle. The Bangura injury makes sense of why we were trying to bring in another striker on deadline day. If that cunt Cha starts another game…
Interesting selections. Izzy not on the bench, though it’s hard to find room for a specialist full-back in 5 subs. Not at all pleased that the successful centre back partnership of Rogne-Mulgrew has been broken up unnecessarily.
