It appears Damien Duff may not have really done his “badges” in the proper manner at all. “Private” assessment. Not going back to assess with his club. Cutting corners. Not showing etc etc.

What have you got to say about that?

I know 2 or 3 lads who have “the badges” and they are very much ABC Drill coaches. No real in depth understanding of the technicalities of coaching or how to manage players, but they do have loads of drills.

_WHEN Rebel Óg drew up the training schedule for their underage development squads back in 2015, John Meyler, who was involved with the U15s, more or less tore up that programme. _

_In Meyler’s eyes, the programme didn’t fit with his vision for the squad. He felt that they needed to be doing more. So they did. Outside of the planned schedule, Meyler and his management did ten extra Sunday mornings, mostly in Na Piarsaigh’s grounds, with that group. Initially, the decision didn’t go down well, with Rebel Óg, some clubs and a few parents. _

The general feeling was that the programme was excessive but, after a while, those clubs and parents who may have doubted Meyler’s ideas, were won over.

He trains 14 year olds mate. His footballing knowledge experience and his badges show he is the best man for the job

He is clearly not up to the job.

A decelopment job is a very important one. A wreckles coach can have a hugely negative effect on a 15 year old.

I have plenty qualifications.

On top of the fact that my experience would make me additionally “qualified”

What i have noted, the more badges guys have and the more they talk about them, seems to correlate strongky with their shitness as a coach.

Badges are rubbish box ticking exercises.

The evidence is there. Duff exposed himself as an absolute cowboy, going against any reasonable coaching science or standards there is
