Yeah the problem is there’s a limited numbers of mugs who’ll pay to hear them play their one good album badly a second time.

They may have tightened up since that early reunion gig in the Park mate and you could be the winner here.

No, it doesn’t… You can’t choose where you are born, you have a choice in being a mug, you mug.

It was like seeing The Pixies when they supported TRHCP’s. They were brilliant but wouldn’t go again, especially that Kim is now gone…

In fairness the pixies brilliantness that day was magnified by the total and utter shite served up by the RHCP and the fucking dire thrills

Even if you consider Second Coming a poor album it’s hardly fair to say they had only one good albums worth of great material, the early material (EP’s) are some of their best stuff, think of all the great tunes that fit into that category, Sally Cinnamon, Elephant stone, Mersey Paradise, Hardest thing in the world, One love, All across the sands.
I caught the tail end of the Roses, became a huge fan in about 93, bursting with excitement before the release of second coming, not sure about it at first but it grew on me hugely.

The second coming is a cracking album… Fagan was on about their first album which is a pile of shit.

Couldn’t agree with you more @artfoley, Christ the thrills were muck and leave it to RHCP’s and the solos each band members were given at one stage

New single released tonight??

3pm I hear. Txfm

Hopefully it takes off from where the better parts of Second Coming left off. Although it’s a mixed bag, and demonstrates the battle in the band at the time between Brown who wanted to make The Stone Roses 2 and Squire who wanted Led Zep 2.5, it has held up better than their first. Some of Brown’s solo work has been good, so hopefully they don’t fuck it up after the 21 year wait.

The second album suffered for that pointless intro to Breaking into heaven (which is a great tune) and the overplay of Love Spreads which I wasn’t mad about at the time but humming it in my head now it seems great.
The best tunes are the less heralded ones though, I’d say How do you sleep is my favourite off the album
