Therin lies the root of your problem TDB - your campaign manager has been as useful as the cream on top of a nice pint, an adornment to the final process. I’d advise you strongly to refrain from political asperations going forward because you appear to be a bit of a lightweight in the matter of campaigning.

A couple of pointers:

I). The incumbent was a strong candidate, virtually impregnable so to speak.
ii). To mount a challenge to surmount him you needed a team of streetfighters used to the rough and tumble of campaigning - select a competent Manager and regionalised Directors of elections.
iii). Stronger emphasis on your adjudication results ie. something more amusing than “Spot well done”
iv). The late intervention by occasional poster and legendary electional wizard @The_Runt is now timely.
v). Do not on any occasion attack your contenders, be your own man and fight to the last vote.

I’m sorely vexed you didn’t seek my council earlier.
