I watched that recently. Adams is fucking brilliant in it. A masterclass of dignity and common sense in the face of utter cuntery. Having said that, he was genuinely progressive in many ways and discussed many issues which were utterly taboo in Ireland at the time. RIP.

He wasn’t that progressive. It was an act encouraged mostly by his radio producer John Caden who was a Stickie. It was written about many times during his career
It’s difficult to overstate the manner to which he was in thrall to the various notables in the Irish Roman Catholic Church and the free pass he gave them. And in particular the way he spoke down to Annie Murphy.

Maybe he was “progressive” for the 80’s or whatever but I always found him to be a bit of cunt and as you said a bit of a ring wing catholic church zealot.
I’ve no idea whether he did or didn’t but I’d imagine he voted against gay marriage and abortion
