Louis Edwards sacked him. It must have been love though because the Doc and Mary Brown stayed together to present day.
The only manager ever sacked for falling in love he said of his sacking at Old Trafford. He always claimed it didn’t bother him that Mary Brown was worth 20 Manchester United’s.
Had a very sour relationship with Man U after that. He went looking for tickets once as was prerogative as a former manager and the club invoiced him for them.
He spent most of his playing days at Preston North End. He was treated like royalty at Deepdale.
The sacking was for sending Jim Brown on scouting trips mid week
