RIP.

RIP. That’s a right shock now.

He was by far and away the best sports analyst RTE Sport ever put on in my time of watching sport. Not an ounce of bullshit and never sat on the fence. His pre event predictions were generally on the money.

I’m a bit young to have known his athletic endeavours but looking at it now he was a good un.

I was a big Jerry Kiernan fan as a young chap, he ran past my house while leading a Cork City Marathon in the early 80s and gave me a wink when i shouted encouragement, he was top class in an era of outstanding Irish marathon runners.
Was a brilliant athletics analyst also, possibly the best in these parts, took no bullshit.

Jerry was a good fella to point out a few decent odds bets in the Athletics. I’d say he enjoyed an aul punt and caught odds compilers with their pants down a few times. 67 is no age and he will be a loss to sports commentary. RIP.

Up until recently Jerry was also involved with a school for Autism in Dublin working on the board of management. A good man, excellent pundit, world class athlete and a sad loss.

He hated rugby, soccer, Gaelic football. He felt athletics was underfunded and blamed the big sports. A chippy fucker who I never warmed to.

RIP.

Always came across as an alright sort.

RIP Jerry, a straight shooter, he’d a great bit of underlying seethe about him all the time.

That’s really sad news
Always seemed a very sound person
His analysis on RTE was always interesting, informative and right.
A proper analyst none of this “he will be disappointed with that” type guff.
9th in an Olympic marathon is a fine achievement
RIP

He was a member of Barcelona FC pal and before that a Spurs fan …More than hating gaa or rugby I don’t think he agreed with players changing physically to the detriment of their ability to move and use their skill…even they way he talked about athletes you could tell He was big into technique
